Caliva began as a San Jose cannabis company in 2015 and grew across cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, retail and delivery. The name now functions mainly as a retail identity: the original business passed into The Parent Company in 2021, merged with Gold Flora in 2023 and went into receivership in 2024, while the flagship South Seventh Street dispensary trades today as STIIIZY San Jose (Caliva).
2015 origin in San Jose
Caliva traces to Consortium Management Group, LLC, formed on 20 February 2015. It opened a medical-cannabis dispensary and cultivation rooms in San Jose under California's Proposition 215 system, then expanded across cultivation, manufacturing, distribution, retail and delivery as adult-use legalization approached. The flagship at 1695 South Seventh Street became one of the company's defining assets.
JAY-Z partnership and The Parent Company
Caliva announced a partnership with Shawn "JAY-Z" Carter in 2019, which developed into a brand-strategy role and the Monogram flower and pre-roll brand. In January 2021 Caliva and Left Coast Ventures were acquired in the transaction that created TPCO Holding Corp., doing business as The Parent Company. Carter served as chief visionary officer for the parent portfolio; he did not found Caliva. The Parent Company's other brands included Deli, Fun Uncle, Mirayo and Monogram, held alongside Caliva rather than sold under it.
Gold Flora merger and receivership
In July 2023 The Parent Company completed an all-stock combination with Gold Flora, producing an operator with a broad California retail and brand portfolio. In September 2024 a lender sought a California receivership after alleging loan defaults, and the Canadian parent made a bankruptcy assignment in October 2024, with a U.S. receiver appointed over the business.
The San Jose stores today
STIIIZY operates and markets the original location as STIIIZY San Jose (Caliva) at 1695 S. 7th Street, San Jose, under California retailer license C10-0000441-LIC, open 6:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. daily. San Jose's registered-cannabis-business list separately identifies STIIIZY I/Caliva at that address and STIIIZY II/Deli by Caliva San Jose at 92 Pullman Way, which holds retailer license C10-0001443-LIC. The storefront carries multiple California brands across flower, vapes, pre-rolls, concentrates and edibles.
