At a glance
Fidel’s is the Los Angeles cannabis brand created by Shant “Fidel” Damirdjian, also known as Fidel Hydro. It is best known for popularizing the modern “hash hole”: a hand-rolled joint built around a centered line of rosin that leaves a visible tunnel as it burns. The wider business includes flower, infused pre-rolls, genetics and collaborations.
Shant Damirdjian’s path
LA Weekly reports that Damirdjian moved from Los Angeles to Beirut at age 12 and returned at 18, then worked at his brothers’ hydroponics shop. He spent years learning from growers, rose from entry-level work to managing an expanded store and eventually applied that operational education to cultivation and the Fidel Hydro identity.
Barcelona, 2018
Damirdjian dates his first hash-hole experiments to a 2018 Spannabis trip in Barcelona, where a group placed California rosin into joints. Back in California, he refined the centered “worm” of hash, hand-roll, branded hemp tip and sizes over roughly six months. His contribution was not inventing flower mixed with hash, but naming and scaling this modern format.
How an Original is constructed
A 2022 LA Weekly process graphic identifies the Original with 2.8 grams of flower, 1 gram of hash rosin and a biodegradable tip, with a reported 45–50-minute burn. Product specifications can change and collaborations may use different inputs, so the current licensed package—not the category nickname—controls.
Mini and 70/30 formats
Fidel’s also developed a smaller Mini intended for fewer people and a 70/30 infused-pre-roll line built around 70% flower and 30% hash. Later storefront descriptions show five 0.7-gram joints in some 70/30 packs. Those listings are format evidence, not a guarantee of current licensed inventory or lawful direct shipping.
Flower, cultivation and genetics
The brand extends beyond infused joints into flower and Fidel Seed Co genetics. Damirdjian has discussed an Adelanto cultivation facility, pheno hunting and a focused genetic library. Cultivars and crosses move through drops; the breeder’s own pack or release notes are more reliable for lineage than retailer copy.
Licensed-market expansion
The brand says Fidel’s Hash Holes entered California dispensaries through a Natura licensing relationship in April 2021. Buyers should use California’s Department of Cannabis Control license search and a licensed retailer menu.
Transbay Challenge win
LA Weekly reports that Fidel’s KMZ won the flower trophy at Transbay Challenge IV in 2022, the brand’s first entry and first competition victory. That is a flower result for the named cultivar, not an award for every Hash Hole or a blanket quality certification.
Collaborations and cultural reach
Fidel’s has collaborated with Cookies, streetwear label Carrots by Anwar Carrots, Champelli and other flower and hash partners. The limited Fidel’s x Carrots project combined flower, an Original Hash Hole, apparel and a 3D-printed carrot container. These drops helped move the brand between cannabis, fashion and event culture.
Authenticity and purchasing limits. High-demand cannabis brands attract copied packaging and unlicensed online sellers. A website offering interstate shipment is not evidence that a THC transaction is lawful. Verify the licensed manufacturer, retailer and batch label; confirm flower and rosin partners on collaboration packaging.
