Galaxy Labs is an independent Illinois craft-cannabis company founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife team Rick and Michelle Ringold. Based in Richton Park, it was the first independent social-equity craft grower in the state to go live, and it built a flower-led catalog around controlled indoor cultivation.
Ownership and origin
The company is more than 96 percent minority and women-owned: 82.5 percent Black, 51 percent veteran-owned, 33.25 percent women and 11 percent Hispanic. It operates only in Illinois, where state law keeps cultivation, testing, distribution and retail inside a licensed chain, and it markets under the line "redefining high-quality craft cannabis".
Cultivation
Growing happens indoors in a controlled-environment facility in Richton Park, using sophisticated racking equipment and proprietary genetics. The company's stated priority is small-batch harvests of individual cultivars rather than volume across a multi-state footprint.
Products
The catalog covers premium flower in 3.5-gram and 7-gram jars, untrimmed flower in 7 grams, one-gram ground-flower pre-rolls, a 2.5-gram multipack of five half-gram pre-rolls, and a 7-gram kief-infused shake.

The house strain library runs to roughly two dozen cuts, among them Cap Junky, Permanent Marker, Gary Payton, Gelato 41, Apricot Chem, Blueberry Diesel, Guava Bars, Dante's Inferno, Brioche French Toast, Cheddar Cheese, Grape Bubblegum, Lemon Fresh, Pineapple Donut, Purple Starfruit, Smackerz, Sugar Shack, Supernova and Sweet Tartz.
Community work
Galaxy sited its grow in an area disproportionately affected by cannabis prohibition and created more than 45 jobs there. It hires and trains locally, partners with Olive-Harvey College's cannabis studies programme, and backs community agriculture and local donations.
