It was one of the first 13 companies awarded the U.S. Hemp Authority certification seal in March 2019. That seal represents an industry audit and licensing program, not FDA approval. Consumers should still match a report to the exact batch and review more than potency alone.
A specific 2021 consumer award
Medterra's Pain Relief Cream received a 2021 Product of the Year award in the CBD personal-care category, a consumer-voted program described in the company's announcement. The result is useful dated recognition for one topical product. It does not establish clinical effectiveness, and older references to a pain product may not match the name or formulation currently on sale.
The proposed Splash deal expired
In March 2026, Splash Beverage Group signed a non-binding letter of intent to acquire Medterra. Later SEC disclosure states that the letter expired on May 4, 2026 and Splash began pursuing other strategic alternatives. Medterra should therefore not be described as acquired by Splash unless a later definitive filing appears; the proposed merger did not close under the announced letter.
CBD regulation and claim limits
Medterra operates in the federally defined hemp channel, not a state-licensed marijuana dispensary system. FDA says it has not approved ordinary retail CBD products to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease; only specific prescription cannabinoid drugs have approvals.
