Tina Gordon founded the farm
Founder and owner Tina Gordon moved from San Francisco to Southern Humboldt in 2007 after work as a musician, producer, event promoter and documentary filmmaker. She bought the property connected to Joani, the jazz drummer who became her friend and documentary subject, and developed it into the farm now known as Moon Made.
From Serendipity to Moon Made
Independent distributor research dates the operation's Serendipity Collective phase to 2009 and the Moon Made Farms name to 2015. The official history is more cautious about dates but confirms that Gordon turned the land into a farm, collective and agricultural center over the following decade. Joani died in 2012, and the farm continues to frame its gardens and support for women's self-sufficiency as part of her legacy.
A specific Southern Humboldt place
The farm sits on 40 acres of leeward mountain slopes about 33.3 linear miles from the Pacific Ocean. Native rock and clay, black and white oak, madrone, bay, Douglas fir, maple and buckeye shape the surrounding ecosystem. Terraced areas include the Homestead, Serendipity and Ancient gardens near the Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity county junction.
Regenerative and lunar cultivation
Moon Made describes outdoor and limited greenhouse production using native soil, on-site compost, plant extracts, compost teas and material gathered from its forest and gardens. Work is coordinated with moon phases, while cover crops and hand labor support the living-soil approach. Organic and regenerative are the farm's stated practices; its product pages also display current Sun+Earth and DEM Pure certification claims that buyers can verify against the certifiers.
Flower, pre-rolls and Queen Colas
The current release board spans THC-dominant and mixed-ratio flower. Named examples include Moon Dog, Grapes & Cream, Peace & Love, Rainbow Breeze, Sapphire Tsu and Mendo Bliss, with genetics and batch test figures published for each release. Partners extend the crop into other formats
Moon Made's regenerative supply-stream program sends flower and cannabis oil to aligned manufacturers. Its site identifies partner products including Cosmic View tincture and honey sweets, Drew Martin botanical pre-rolls, The Pairist mini joints and Dolo Brands flower. Those collaborations should be credited to both the farm and the manufacturer rather than treated as products made entirely in-house.
Competition results with named cultivars
Distributor Nabis reports three specific wins: Hawaiian Fanta received a Headstash Award for Best Greenhouse Flower, Hella Jelly won Best Overall Sativa at the Farmer's Cup and Red Lemons won the Humboldt Showdown. Sapphire Tsu also placed second in Alternative Cannabinoid Flower at the 2023 Emerald Cup, while Chemistry's Tsunami Dog cartridge made with Moon Made flower won the 2021 Emerald Cup CBD cartridge category.
California retail footprint
The farm's live locator lists licensed retailers across Humboldt, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Venice, Ojai, West Hollywood and other California markets. Named doors include CBCB, ERBA Markets, Cornerstone Wellness, Rise Pasadena, Green Goddess, Sespe Creek and The Woods. These are changing stockists, not permanent store ownership; shoppers should confirm the current menu.
