Hella Jelly is a live rosin from Punch Edibles & Extracts, the solventless maker based in Canoga Park, Los Angeles. The starting material is Hella Jelly flower, a cultivar bred by Humboldt Seed Company from Very Cherry × Notorious THC.
Before it was a jar of rosin, Hella Jelly was a phenotype-hunt winner. It took the top spot in Humboldt Seed Company's 2019 Phenotype Mega-Hunt, and the cultivar was first sold as Jelly Rancher before its current name.
A 2019 Mega-Hunt winner from Humboldt County
Humboldt Seed Company runs its Phenotype Mega-Hunt in Humboldt County, and Hella Jelly came out on top in the 2019 round. HENDRX, a farm that grows the cultivar, says the keeper carried the number #32T during that hunt.
The company kept working the line for years before a wide release. Hella Jelly showed up as the mystery clone in the 2021 Grow-Off competition. HENDRX also lists it as Leafly's Sativa of the Year for the 2021 harvest.
Humboldt Seed Company's current seed release is Hella Jelly Bx3 × HJY#32. Bx3 means the line was backcrossed to itself three times. An autoflower version also exists, built from Hella Jelly Photoperiod × Jelly Donutz Auto and finishing in 70–80 days from germination.
Very Cherry meets Notorious THC
Both parents come out of the Humboldt Seed Company catalog. Very Cherry blends Lemon Kush Bx3 with heritage genetics. Notorious THC combines Humboldt OG with Caramel Cream.
According to Weedmaps, Very Cherry passes on sativa dominance and its uplifting, energizing side. Notorious THC shapes how the flower looks. Leafly lists the cross as a sativa-dominant hybrid under its Jelly Rancher entry and names caryophyllene as the dominant terpene.
HENDRX sums up the result as a lemony, candy-like sativa chemovar with a growth structure more often seen in indicas. The farm rates it at 70% sativa and 30% indica.
An aggressive grower that washes well
Humboldt Seed Company calls Hella Jelly an aggressive grower, with vigorous roots and fast vegetative growth. Indoors it finishes in about 45 days of flowering. Outdoors in Humboldt, harvest usually lands between September 15 and September 30.
The plants stack serious weight. One grower quoted by the breeder said the tops got so heavy they flopped over, and the company suggests secondary support. HENDRX lists 45–55 days indoors and a heavy yield from large, dense flowers on sturdy plants.
The finished buds are small, fat and rounded. Humboldt Seed Company describes bright neon green calyxes with golden undertones, red-orange hairs and tiny golden-white trichomes. It puts average THC at 26–30%.
That trichome coverage is what matters for rosin. The breeder lists ice water hash yields of up to 3%. HENDRX calls the cultivar a consistently efficient washer for hash production, with high-quality sift for both static and bubble hash.
How Punch presses Hella Jelly
Punch runs its industrial kitchen and extraction facility in Canoga Park, in the San Fernando Valley. On the solventless side, Punch Extracts makes live rosin only. Fresh frozen flower is washed into hash with ultra purified ice and water, then pressed through a fine mesh to pull out impurities.
Punch skips cured flower on purpose, since many terpenes boil off at room temperature. Production happens in a climate controlled space. The result is sold as full-spectrum live rosin across four tiers, in either fresh press or cold cure badder form.
A Weedmaps delivery menu for Tree Factory carries Punch Hella Jelly as Tier 4 live rosin in cold cure badder, sold by the gram. That listing shows 70% THC and a $55 list price. Punch's own California rosin drop list for September 2026 shows Hella Jelly as a Tier 4 release at Green Chamber in Riverside.
The flavor on that menu reads like a candy shop, with mango, strawberry and grape over a citrus finish. It lines up closely with how Weedmaps describes the flower itself.
