Mini Rig - Beehive Nano

Brand: Empire Glassworks

Price: $160

Empire Glassworks' Mini Rig - Beehive Nano is a hand-detailed American glass water pipe that stands 6 inches tall and runs a 14.5mm fixed diffused downstem. The beehive is sculpted into the glass itself, packed with honey and ringed by working bees, and it sells for $160.

Where It Comes From

Empire Glassworks makes this one in the USA with American glass, and the bee theme is close to a house signature at this point. The studio has built a whole run of hive and honey pieces, and this is the small-format entry in it.

Because the detailing is applied by hand rather than molded, the bees and honeycomb sit slightly differently on every unit. You are buying one specific piece, not a copy of a catalog photo.

What It Actually Does

The fixed diffused downstem is the working part. It is built into the piece at 14.5mm, so there is no removable stem to snap, and the diffusion breaks the smoke up as it enters the water instead of letting it come through in one column.

Six inches is genuinely small for a water pipe with a fixed downstem, which is where the nano name comes from. It holds enough water to do real work while still fitting in a cabinet or a padded bag without a fight.

Fixed is worth understanding before you buy. There is no stem to pull out at cleaning time, so the piece gets flushed rather than disassembled, and there is also no stem joint to crack if it takes a knock. That cuts both ways depending on how you maintain your glass. 21+ only.

The Numbers

Specs, straight off the listing:

  • Height: 6 inches
  • Downstem: 14.5mm, fixed and diffused
  • Material: American glass, made in the USA
  • Detailing: hand-applied beehive with honey and bees
  • Format: nano water pipe

What It Costs

It sits at $160, which puts it above Empire's simpler nano pieces and reflects how much hand-detailing goes into the hive. If the sculpting is not the reason you are buying, there are cheaper ways to get a six-inch water pipe. Browse the rest of the glass we track to see the spread.

The Rest Of The Range

The bee theme runs deep in Empire's catalog, most obviously in the Save the Bees beaker, which takes the same subject to a full-size format.

If you want the hand-sculpted nano shape with a different theme on it, the Peyote and the Avocadope are the closest siblings in the small-format lineup.
