Banana Bros. is a Culver City, California hardware company built around OTTO, a motorized mill that grinds dry herb and loads it straight into a pre-rolled cone at the push of a button. CEO Dave Richmond and director of innovation Manny Montano founded it in 2017 under a simple house rule: "make it easy, to take it easy." In September 2026 the official store sells a Metallic Gold OTTO at $99.95 with a free carrying case.
The company makes gear, not cannabis. Its catalog is short and specific: the OTTO and OTTO GO devices, its own King and Shorty cones, a carrying case and branded apparel.
Two bananas and a year of prototypes
Richmond and Montano describe themselves as veteran users known for "banana," out-of-the-box ideas. The problem they chased was the grind-and-fill routine and the time, mess and uneven results that come with it. When they launched OTTO from Los Angeles on October 4, 2018, the company pointed to more than 20 years of consumer electronics manufacturing experience behind the build.
"After more than a year of concepts, R&D and prototyping, we're proud to launch OTTO," Richmond said at the time. The first units sold on bananabros.com for $129.99, paired with the company's raw fiber cones.
How the milling chamber reads the load
OTTO doesn't just spin a blade. Banana Bros. says its patented milling system analyzes the material and adjusts the direction, speed and pressure of the blades as it works, cutting one layer at a time in an expandable chamber. The milling plates are aerospace-engineered aluminum. The motor senses resistance and changes course instead of crushing through, which is how it handles wet, dry or sticky material.
Below the chamber, a paper cone sits in the O-Tube X, a magnetic holder, and the milled herb drops directly into it. The device takes standard King and Shorty cones, with an adapter base for the shorter size. Banana Bros. bills OTTO as "the world's first and only Automatic Milling Machine."
OG OTTO, Metallic Gold and OTTO GO
The original model now goes by OG OTTO. Its box holds the device, an O-Tube X, a cone starter pack, a user manual and quick start guide, and an accessory kit with a measuring cup, adapter base, Fresh Seal Tube, 4-in-1 tool, Snap Cap and Micro USB charging cord. The store lists it at $89.95, marked down from $159.99, and showed it sold out in September 2026.
The Metallic Gold OTTO is the in-stock version, at $99.95 against a $199.99 list price, and it ships with a free carrying case. The case also sells on its own for $34.99. OTTO orders ship free by U.S. ground.
OTTO GO is the portable take on the same milling system. It is rechargeable, sized for travel, and can fill a cone or mill straight into glassware. Its box carries the device, a Snap Cap, a Micro USB cable and a 4-in-1 cleaning tool. It lists at $65.99, down from $99.99, and was also sold out on the store in September 2026.
Cones cut for the O-Tube
Banana Bros. sells its own pre-rolled cones, designed to run with OTTO. They are made from raw unbleached fiber and marketed as GMO-free, chlorine-free and vegan-friendly. King Cones come in 120-count packs for $49.99 and 240-count packs for $89.99. Shorty Cones come in 150-count packs for $49.99 and 300-count packs for $89.99. The same packs sit in a subscription collection on the store.
The merch side runs to T-shirts, hats and hoodies carrying the Banana Bros. smile. The company pitches itself as inclusive and built on collaboration, and its about page puts it plainly: "anyone can be a banana brother!"
Patents and the 2025 warranty
Banana Bros., LLC marks its products under U.S. Patent No. 9,427,020 and U.S. Patent No. 9,814,259 on a virtual patent marking page. The 2018 launch release already described the milling technology as patent-protected.
The company updated its warranty on November 16, 2025. Products bought directly from bananabros.com carry a one-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects for the original purchaser. Exclusions include misuse, drops, water damage, normal wear, commercial use and skipped maintenance. Amazon handles returns and support for units bought there. Approved claims get a prepaid return label, and a replacement ships once the returned unit is inspected.
Where OTTO sells in 2026
The direct store at bananabros.com runs the business, with the Metallic Gold OTTO, the carrying case and most cone packs in stock in September 2026. OTTO also shows up at third-party shops. Cannabox, a U.S. online headshop and subscription service, lists the OTTO Automatic Weed Grinder at $149.99, sold out in September 2026. Donaulife Headshop lists OTTO grinders in black and in a white HS Edition.
The High Rise Co put OTTO first in its April 2026 ranking of the best electric weed grinders of 2026. A July 2026 Banana Bros OTTO review set the OG OTTO against the OTTO GO and manual grinders such as Santa Cruz Shredder.
