At a glance

Buddies is a multistate cannabis-products brand launched in Oregon in 2017 and now licensed in California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. Its catalog spans vapes, dabs, softgels, tinctures, topicals and infused pre-rolls. Buddies is best understood as a family of distinct formulations—not a single “all-cannabis” oil—because its live-resin, cured-resin, cannabis-terpene and flavor-infused lines use different inputs.

History and leadership

The official brand story says Buddies set out in 2017. An independent Budist profile likewise places the consumer launch in Oregon that year, followed by Washington, and identifies Bryan Cochran as president. Current public sources reviewed for this profile do not reliably name the founder, so no founder has been inferred from executive titles or unsourced directories.

Buddies’ California operations are associated with Shasta Lake and the earlier Tetra Labs business. Its current legal footprint is clearer than the corporate genealogy: the company publishes license numbers for California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada, and maintains state-specific product catalogs.

Vape-oil families

100% Live Resin is described as fresh-frozen whole-plant extract without distillate or cutting agents. 100% Cured Resin begins with cured indoor flower. Premium Cannabis Oil + CDT combines refined cannabis oil with cannabis-derived terpenes, while Premium Sauce Blend combines live-resin high-terpene extract, cannabis-derived terpenes and premium cannabis oil.

The Flavor Infused line is materially different: Buddies says it uses plant-derived terpenes that are not sourced from cannabis and offers more than 20 flavors. That distinction matters because broad homepage phrases such as “100% cannabis products” or “no additives” do not accurately describe every line in the same way. The ingredient panel on the specific package is the controlling source.

Dabs, ingestibles, topicals and pre-rolls

The wider catalog includes diamonds-and-sauce and terp-sugar concentrates, infused pre-rolls, tinctures, softgels and Fire & Ice topicals. The softgel range has included RSO and premium-cannabis-oil formulations. Buddies’ FAQ says its softgel shell contains bovine gelatin, so those products should not be described as vegan. It also confirms that the company’s live resin is made using butane extraction.

Markets, stores and licenses

Buddies publishes state catalogs for California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington and lists licenses CA DCC-10003316, OR 060-10108279225, WA 6033582640010001 and NV 84492500962215939022. Consumers should use the brand’s store locator and a licensed retailer’s current menu. State availability does not mean every formulation or potency is sold in all four markets.

Awards and notable recognition

The company’s itemized award archive includes first place for Melon Gum in the flavored-distillate category at the 2024 NW Leaf Bowl; a 2024 High Times Best Topical result for Fire & Ice in California; third place for the Mt. Hood Magic vape at a 2023 High Times event in Oregon; first place for Fire & Ice at the 2023 Oregon Grower’s Cup; and first place for Sour Tangie vape at the 2018 Oregon Dope Cup. Buddies also lists 2021 vape and concentrate placements and a LeafLink Oregon Brand of the Year designation.

The same official archive lists a 2014 High Times Best Topical result for Fire & Ice, three years before Buddies says the brand began. This profile treats that as predecessor-product history, not a 2014 Buddies brand award, because the company does not explain the chronology on the page.

How to read Buddies product claims

Terms such as live resin, cured resin, cannabis-derived terpenes and plant-derived flavor terpenes describe different processes and ingredient sources. They are not interchangeable quality grades. Check the exact SKU’s ingredient list, extraction disclosure, batch certificate, package date and hardware instructions. For more category context, compare Buddies with other extract producers and licensed cannabis brands.

Safety and evidence limits

Buddies’ transparency language and awards are brand- and event-published information, not medical endorsements. Do not infer a health benefit from “natural,” “100% cannabis” or “live resin,” and do not use a generalized brand description in place of batch testing. Effects and tolerance vary; adults should follow local law and product-specific directions.

What to verify before buying

Check the exact package or model for current specifications, ingredients or materials, potency or test data where relevant, warnings, warranty terms and local legal restrictions. Retail listings can outlive discontinued or reformulated products.
