Garden Society is the women-owned cannabis company Erin Gore founded in 2016 in Sonoma County, with co-founder Karli Warner. It runs out of Cloverdale, makes gummies, chocolates, flower and pre-rolls, and has owned the Oakland extraction brand Chemistry since February 2024.
The brand still moves product in three states. Headset tracked Garden Society sales in California, Massachusetts and New Jersey for July 2026, with more than $500,000 in sales that month across 87 products.
An engineer and a wine marketer
Gore came to cannabis from manufacturing. She holds a chemical and biological engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, worked in manufacturing at German consumer goods company Henkel and is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. New Cannabis Ventures put her consumer packaged goods run at 10 years.
Warner came up in wine. She started at a small PR agency in Napa and helped launch Tom Gore Vineyards, a joint venture with Constellation Brands. By November 2022 she was co-founder and chief marketing officer. That pairing set the house style: wine-country presentation on regulated cannabis.
House parties, delivery and a $7 million round
The early playbook was direct. In 2019 Garden Society held a microbusiness license covering manufacturing, distribution and non-storefront retail. It worked with a third-party distributor and co-packers and sold through dispensaries, its own online store and in-home parties. It bootstrapped until a $1.3 million convertible note in fall 2018.
Benzinga covered the launch of a California-wide delivery service in October 2019 and the addition of other brands to its commerce site in April 2020. In January 2022, Forbes reported a $7 million Series A led by RJ Primo LLC. A $320,000 side vehicle of women and BIPOC angel investors, led by Janna Meyrowitz Turner, came in alongside it.
Chocolates, rosé gummies and Reserve rosettes
The first lineup was confections and pre-rolls. In 2019 it ran two chocolate bars, fruit gelées and three types of rosette pre-rolls, including a high-CBD version. Leafly featured its Bliss Blossoms milk chocolates in February 2019, at 10 mg THC per piece, made with a hybrid from Shine On Farms.
Gummies took the brand further. Its Sparkling Strawberry Rosé Gummies placed second in Best Edibles at the LA Weekly Desert Smoke-Off 2022. In June 2022 it launched Reserve, a tier of 10-pack rosette pre-rolls of Pink Boost Goddess from Emerald Spirit Botanicals in Mendocino County, testing at 6–8% THCV with a $40 MSRP.
Reserve opened at 10 California dispensaries, including Solful, Sweet Flower, The Apothecarium and a Cannabist store. "Working with the best farms in Sonoma and Mendocino counties has always been a top priority," Gore said at the launch.
Policy seats and women-in-cannabis honors
Gore works the policy side too. Cannabis Business Times listed her among the eight advisory board members of the Access + Innovation Project, a federal policy group launched in Washington, D.C., on July 17, 2019. The group pushes a federal framework that keeps women and people of color in industry leadership.
Forbes named Gore one of fifteen powerful and innovative women in cannabis in August 2019, and she won a North Bay Women in Business award in June 2021. Garden Society describes itself as a B Corporation with a mission built on women, education and responsibly sourced products.
Ohio, New Jersey and the Chemistry deal
Expansion came in stages. On November 1, 2022, Garden Society announced a conditional processing license in New Jersey and billed itself as the first independent, women-owned California manufacturer to move into the state. Ohio opened first. Products launched there on April 28, 2023, with Farkas Farms of Grafton handling cultivation and processing, across 13 dispensaries.
On February 22, 2024, Garden Society announced an all-equity acquisition of Chemistry, the Oakland extraction brand Paul Roethle founded in 2016. Roethle, who holds a PhD in organic chemistry from UC Berkeley, joined as vice president of product. Gore said the deal would let Garden Society scale its lineup and reach a wider demographic.
Ratio gummies and 14-gram flower in 2026
Headset's July 2026 data shows the current mix. Ratio gummies in 20-packs led the top sellers: a THC/CBN/CBD 1:1:1, a THC/CBG 1:1 and a THC/CBD 1:1. Fourteen-gram flower crosses followed, including Super Boof x Tropicana Cherry, Wedding Cake x Kush Mints, Curacao x Caribbean Cookies and Cereal Milk x Cali Sunset.
Pre-rolls round it out, from a GMO Cookies x OZ Kush 28-pack to a Double Diesel rosette 10-pack. Headset ranked Garden Society No. 43 in California edibles and No. 49 in Massachusetts flower for July 2026. Sales fell 19.6% year over year while the average item price rose 27.1% to $38.92.
The sister brand is quieter, with Headset's last tracked Chemistry sales in January 2026. Garden Society itself holds California manufacturing license DCC-10005021 and operates as Old River Road Inc. from 840 N Cloverdale Blvd in Cloverdale.
