At a glance
Garden Society is a women-focused cannabis brand founded in Northern California by chemical and biological engineer Erin Gore. Launched at the Emerald Cup in 2016, it pairs strain-specific flower with culinary formats and now operates across California and New Jersey through licensed manufacturing and distribution partnerships.
Brand snapshot
The company was built for adults who wanted cannabis presented with the familiarity of wine-country food culture rather than counterculture shorthand. Its current California catalog centers on pre-rolls, hash-infused pre-rolls, gummies and full-flower pouches organized around named experience categories.
Founder and origin
Founder and CEO Erin Gore studied chemical and biological engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and worked in consumer products before cannabis. Garden Society launched under California's Proposition 215 medical framework in 2016. Karli Warner joined early to lead marketing and communications, bringing wine-industry brand experience, but the company identifies Gore as its founder.
Company structure and growth
Garden Society describes itself as a California benefit corporation, a legal purpose structure that is different from certification by B Lab. The company has operated a licensed microbusiness and later manufacturing operations. In 2023, Kiva Sales & Service began selling and distributing Garden Society products in California while Garden Society agreed to manufacture Kiva confections in New Jersey.
Products and formats
California products include whole-flower pre-rolls, party packs, solventless hash-infused pre-rolls, gummies and full-flower pouches. Named lines include Blissful Rest, Brighter Day, Calm & Focus, Joyful & Present and Balance. Gummies have used wine-country flavor references such as Tart Cherry Pinot Noir, Peach Prosecco, Sparkling Strawberry Rosé and Kiwi Lime Sauvignon Blanc.
Ingredients and sourcing
The brand says its pre-rolls use strain-specific flower from partner farms selected for sustainable practices and that products are tested through the production process. Historical confections were developed with Sonoma County culinary partners. These are supply-chain and formulation claims; the package ingredient list, licensee and lot test remain the evidence for any specific item.
Markets, manufacturing and stores
The main brand site currently directs California consumers to licensed retailers. Garden Society opened a New Jersey manufacturing facility in April 2024, initially producing for Kiva and Jetty before a broader Garden Society shelf launch. Cannabis products are made within each state and do not legally cross state lines.
Recognition and leadership
Gore has been recognized in national women-in-cannabis coverage and received a 2021 North Bay Business Journal women-in-business honor. The brand's press archive also records placement in the 2022 LA Weekly Desert Smoke-Off edible coverage. These leadership and editorial honors should not be confused with a complete product-award history.
Community and education
Garden Society has used events, educational articles and women-centered brand programming to reduce intimidation for newer consumers. Its public-benefit purpose emphasizes women's welfare, education and responsibly sourced products. Specific impact, donations or sustainability results should be assessed through dated programs rather than broad brand language.
Safety, scope and buying guidance. Effect names are merchandising categories, not medical guarantees. Check the state, responsible licensee, cannabinoid content, serving size, allergens and batch test on each package; chocolate and gummy formulations can contain ingredients not present in flower. Current California manufacturing information identifies 2445 Manufacturing LLC and license DCC-10005021, but consumers should verify the live regulator record at purchase.
