Brand snapshot

Halara is a cannabis vape brand available through licensed dispensaries in California, Washington and New York. Its name comes from a Greek expression meaning “take it easy.” The portfolio covers high-THC distillate, cannabinoid blends, whole-plant resin sauce, solventless rosin, all-in-one devices, 510 cartridges and batteries.

Founder and origin

Founder Nick Volkenant is a chemical engineer who says he began developing vape formulas while bartending and studying. The company’s origin story frames Halara as a response to harsh, inconsistent cartridges and opaque ingredient claims. Volkenant’s phone number is printed on packages as a direct customer-feedback channel.

Four oil systems

“Naturally Smooth” is the high-THC distillate line; CBD Blends combines minor cannabinoids for different product profiles; Resin Sauce uses whole-plant fresh-frozen extract; and the solventless line uses rosin made from ice-water hash. The current site lists 0.5- and one-gram cartridges and one-gram all-in-ones, with availability varying by dispensary.

Hardware design

Halara says its 510 cartridges use glass construction, ceramic heating elements and no plastic or adhesives in the oil path. All-in-ones add dual airflow and format-specific heating cores. The companion 900mAh battery offers four voltage settings and 510-thread compatibility. Hardware claims come from the manufacturer and should be matched to the exact product generation.

Testing and transparency

The company publishes a certificate-of-analysis directory and says each batch is tested by ISO 17025-accredited third-party laboratories for 101 contaminants across pesticides, residual solvents, microbes, mycotoxins and heavy metals. A batch-specific COA is stronger evidence than a brand-wide purity slogan; consumers should match the package number to the result.

Awards and recognition

Halara’s recognition page lists seventh place for live-resin cartridges at the 2022 Emerald Cup, first place for alternative-cannabinoid cartridges at the 2024 Emerald Cup, a 2024 California State Fair gold medal, a 2025 State Fair silver medal, California Leaf Bowl winner and runner-up results in 2025, and a 2022 WeedCon win.

Benefit company and impact

Halara says it is a California benefit corporation with a device recycling program and limited impact releases supporting organizations including One Tree Planted, LYRIC LGBTQ+ Youth Center and the Humane Society. The company reports funding 1,000 trees per year. These are first-party impact statements; a complete audited donation ledger was not located.

Footprint and recall context

The company reports placement in more than 300 dispensaries across three states. Halara also says it had no California Department of Cannabis Control recalls as of March 2026; that is a time-bounded database claim, not a promise about future batches or the regulatory record in Washington and New York. Current state recall portals should be checked independently.

Why the brand matters. Halara’s useful differentiators are unusually specific for a vape label: named oil systems, disclosed hardware materials, batch-level COAs and a founder who is publicly identified. The awards and three-state footprint add context, but the strongest proof remains the individual package, laboratory report and state license. Marketing claims about smoothness or effects are subjective and not medical guarantees.
