Company snapshot
HEMPER is an online headshop and smoking-accessory brand founded in 2015. It sells themed subscription boxes alongside individual bongs, pipes, dab rigs, papers, grinders, storage, cleaning tools and vaporizer accessories. HEMPER is a hardware and ecommerce company, not a licensed cannabis cultivator or dispensary.
Founders and launch
Bryan Gerber founded HEMPER with Ravjot “RJ” Bhasin and Henry Kochhar. The company launched as a curator of monthly, limited-run accessory boxes, using themed glass and replenishment items to create a collectible subscription. Gerber has served as chief executive, with Bhasin and Kochhar originally identified in finance and operations roles.
The subscription model
The current store still offers the standard HEMPER Box and the larger HEMPER XL Box, with monthly and prepaid plans. Boxes combine a themed glass piece with consumable accessories and rotating extras. The company’s newer About page says subscriptions have not been the core business for years, but the live homepage confirms they remain an active sales channel.
Online headshop catalog
Individual products now form the broadest part of the store: large and mini bongs, hand pipes, bubblers, one-hitters, dab rigs, e-rigs, bangers, carb caps, nectar collectors, papers, cones, grinders, trays, cleaning gear, storage and replacement parts. HEMPER sells both in-house designs and products from outside brands.
Collaborations and themes
Limited editions and celebrity or brand collaborations helped make the early boxes collectible. The current catalog extends themes across product families so a bong, pipe and accessories share a visual concept. A collaboration is a design or merchandising relationship and should not be read as cannabis-product endorsement or shared corporate ownership.
Growth and funding
In 2018 HEMPER announced a $10 million Series A round, reporting more than 10,000 monthly subscribers and 250,000 boxes shipped at that time. Those figures document an earlier growth stage, not the current subscriber count. In 2021 the company acquired Hemper.com after operating on Hemper.co.
Ownership and sales terms
Current terms identify Hemper Co LLC as the site owner and operator. The company sells directly online, supports wholesale inquiries and ships to U.S. and international destinations subject to law and carrier rules. Customers must be 21 or older, and products are designated for tobacco or other legal use.
Awards and evidence limits
No comprehensive independent awards register appears in the reviewed sources, so media mentions, subscriber totals and celebrity boxes are not presented as formal honors. Product materials and manufacturing origin can vary across the large catalog. Buyers should check the specific listing, dimensions, compatibility, return terms and warranty.
Why HEMPER matters. HEMPER helped turn recurring accessory replenishment into a themed discovery product, then used that audience to build a full ecommerce headshop. The tension between its subscription origin and present product-led store is part of the story. It also operates Goody by Hemper, connecting the parent retailer to collectible novelty glass.
