Maven Genetics is a Los Angeles breeder and indoor cultivator that turns its own crosses into flower, rosin-infused pre-rolls, vapes, hash and seed packs. Nabis dates the company to 2015 and names David Bosworth as CEO and Mike Corvington as COO, with Shane Ponto and Jason Ainsworth as co-founders.
The flagship Maven Store sits on Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana. In July 2026, Nabis reported the brand pushing past California into New York, Illinois and Nevada.
From a San Fernando Valley closet to a strain library
Maven tells its own story small. The company describes a closet-grown passion project in the San Fernando Valley that turned into a lifelong pursuit, and it still frames the brand around one goal: breeding and cultivating rare indoor cannabis. The California license printed on its site is C11-0000742-LIC.
The breeding shows up in the strain library. Maven publishes 20 cultivars with their parents, and most trace back to a handful of house keepers. Prizm is Opal x Permanent Marker #12. Blue Lotus is a parent of Black Lotus and Parisian Kush. Black Diamond X turns up again and again as a parent, in Umami Butter, Chroma, RS-X and Black Lotus.
Then the keepers get crossed with each other. Dirty Laundry is Prizm x FKAFL, Sticky Grapez is Prizm x Ambrosia, Lipstain is Lipsmackerz x Prizm #13, and French Butter pairs FKAFL with Umami Butter. The library also keeps older lines on file, including Pre-98 Bubba Kush from OG Kush and SFV OG from OG Kush x Afghani.
The French Laundry run of 2023
One cross made the name. The Soap x LA Rouge competed in 2023 as French Laundry and spent the year collecting hardware. Forbes and High Times tracked the run: a Farmers Cup win in February, fourth place in indoor at the Emerald Cup in May, wins at Zalympix in June and a Transbay Challenge win in August.
The July 2023 High Times Cannabis Cup SoCal: People's Choice Edition paid Maven twice. High Times listed Orange Bellini, a cross of Orange Truffle Soufflé and Peach Creme Gelato, in first place for sativa flower, with French Laundry second in hybrid flower. The brand landed in the magazine's August 2023 issue.
In December 2023, Maven renamed the hybrid FKAFL, short for formerly known as French Laundry. It still anchors the library as a parent line. Nabis adds first-place Farmers Cup wins for Dirty Laundry, Lipstain and Pineapple Biscotti to the tally.
Eighths, Minis and research batches
Flower leads the menu. Eighths are 3.5 grams of hand-trimmed flower sealed in glass jars. Minis put 14 grams of smaller indoor nugs in one package. Research & Development releases are limited micro-batches from the breeding program, which Maven pitches as a way to bring customers into the pheno hunt.
Limited Edition drops cover the Artist Series and the Kings & Queens collection. The Artist Series runs through Feed The Muse, Maven's creative program for thinkers, makers and dreamers. It has paired Fantasma with the artist James Haunt and Opal with the artist Saber.
Nabis lists Prizm, Dirty Laundry, Orange Sapphire, New Money and Key Lime Jack among the signature strains. The team's line to Nabis was blunt: “We are not interested in making generic cannabis.”
Halos, Goldies and the vape blends
The pre-roll line runs four deep. Signature pre-rolls come as 1-gram singles and 5-packs in unbleached paper. Goldies are five 0.6-gram infused joints made with flower, oil and kief. Halos are 1.9-gram hash holes built from strain-specific flower and solventless rosin. Mini Halos pack five 0.5-gram joints, each carrying 0.1 gram of live rosin.
Two vape lines split the cartridge shelf. Gold Blends are 100% cannabis-derived, strain-specific oil in 510-thread cartridges or 1-gram disposables. Alchemy combines live rosin and live resin across four blends named Citra, Octane, Desserts and Exotics.
The concentrate menu covers Ice Water Hash, Cold Cure Rosin and Fresh Press Rosin. Hash + Rosin Duos split one jar between the two.
Seed packs from the house program
Maven sells its breeding stock too. Its seed page lists packs of 12 regular seeds hand-selected for vigor and phenotypic potential, drawn from the in-house breeding program. Seeds get their own storefront at mavengeneticsseeds.com, separate from the flower brand and the dispensary.
Seeds & Clones, the seed shop founded by former Buds & Roses owner Aaron Justis, published a Maven guide on August 24, 2026. It listed feminized 6-packs of Dirty Laundry and Lipstain at $150 each, alongside Blue Dashi and Blue Lotus S1. Regular 12-packs came from the Golden Applez collection: Apples and Diamonds, Gold Linens, Golden Ticket, Piña Sangria and Paradiso.
Tarzana, Hall of Flowers and the 2026 map
The Maven Store at 18629 Ventura Boulevard is the brand's flagship dispensary. It stocks Maven alongside other brands, holds exclusive limited batches that sell only there, and runs daily deals through the week. Maven Rewards points go toward merch, tastings, seed packs and festival tickets.
Maven brought the lineup to Hall of Flowers in Ventura in 2026 and ran a mini pop-up dispensary on the floor. In a June 2026 interview with Respect My Region, Ponto walked through Dirty Laundry, Chrome Dome, Pineapple Biscotti, Lemon Cherry Tropicana, Goldies and the Mini Halos hash hole line.
Ponto also gave credit where it was due. He tied Cherry Gas, one of Maven's past award winners, to a collaboration with Mr. D of Happy Dreams Farms.
Nabis profiled the brand on July 16, 2026, with California as its home market and New York, Illinois and Nevada next on the map. The breeding room keeps moving, with Pineapple Biscotti x FKAFL and 98K x Chrome Dome among the crosses in development.
