O.pen is the Denver vape brand that has made 510-thread pens since October 2012. It sells batteries, discreet devices and an electric dab rig direct through its own shop. Its THC cartridges and all-in-ones move through licensed Colorado dispensaries under the Daily, Signature and Elite Strains lines.
The pen still moves. Headset ranked O.pen No. 10 in Colorado vapor pens for August 2026, up from No. 15 a year earlier, and its September 6, 2026 update lists Organa Brands as the parent.
Organa Labs and the 510 pen
The oil came first. Organa Labs began extracting cannabis oil in 2010 in Colorado, using supercritical CO2 extraction, and the pen launched in October 2012. Jeremy Heidl, Ralph Morgan and Christopher McElvany founded the company. The first products were THC vape cartridges and a 510-thread battery to run them.
That battery is the brand's big claim. O.pen says it pioneered the universal 510-thread battery that became the industry standard. It also says it was the first cannabis brand to hand out free batteries, back them with a lifetime warranty and run in-store education through dispensary pop-ups.
A Cannabis Cup and a holding company
The cartridges collected hardware early. Craft RESERVE cartridges took first place for best vape pen cartridge at the 2016 High Times Colorado Cannabis Cup. By its 10th anniversary in 2022, O.pen counted 10 awards for its THC cartridges.
In April 2017, O.penVAPE rebranded its parent as Organa Brands, a holding company for several labels. The lineup covered Organa Labs extraction, O.penVAPE cartridges, The Magic Buzz beverages, Bakked concentrates and District Edibles gummies. President Chris Driessen said the company had shifted its focus to process improvement and product formulation.
The footprint was wide by then. Organa held licensed operations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont, with product in more than 1,200 dispensaries. The model licensed the brand's intellectual property to distribution partners, a setup that reached 10 states and Jamaica.
SLANG Worldwide buys in
In January 2019, SLANG Worldwide bought Organa Brands for upward of $200 million and listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange, MJBizDaily reported. At the time of the deal, OpenVape products had generated more than $170 million in retail revenue since 2014. SLANG was led by Peter Miller and Billy Levy, the Mettrum Health co-founders.
O.pen turned 10 under SLANG in October 2022. The company marked it with a $10,000 donation to The Last Prisoner Project, a special-edition 10-Year Anniversary 2.0 Battery and commemorative gold-marked cartridge packaging, with month-long October promotions at dispensaries in participating states. It counted more than 12 million vape products sold, across oil and hardware, with sales in 15 legal markets including Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Maryland and Massachusetts.
Receivership in Colorado
SLANG's credit agreement with its secured lenders came due on November 15, 2024. That month, SLANG's Colorado subsidiaries went into receivership, with Highline Financial Group LLC appointed as receiver, mg Magazine reported. The O.pen brand kept selling through the change, and Headset's September 2026 update lists Organa Brands as its parent.
Conceal, Auto-Draw, ISH and Sesh
The hardware shop runs on openvapeshop.com. The 2026 lineup:

Every battery carries the Friend for Life limited lifetime warranty, and non-working 510 batteries have a 30-day return window. Orders over $50 ship free by FedEx, and nothing ships to PO boxes. The shop sells hardware only, built to take a cart from a licensed dispensary.
Daily, Signature and Elite on Colorado shelves
The oil side runs in three tiers. Daily Strains are distillate, Signature Strains are live resin and Elite Strains are live rosin. Cartridges come in 0.5g, 1g and 2g sizes, and O.pen builds them with ceramic coils. The brand also makes all-in-one disposables.
Headset's August 2026 data puts O.pen in 100 licensed Colorado dispensaries, with the deepest coverage in Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, Durango and Fort Collins. The brand carried 122 products at an average price of $28.78, and sales rose 26.1% from a year earlier. Its peak on the Colorado vapor pen chart was No. 5, in September 2024.
Disposables led the month. The top five sellers were Daily Strains Blue Dream, Maui Wowie and Durban Poison distillate disposables, a Macro Daily Strains Tiger's Blood distillate disposable and a Daily Strains Maui Wowie cured resin cartridge, all at 1g.
