Phoenician Grinders is an Arizona accessories company that machines threadless herb grinders from aerospace-grade aluminum. Brothers Colton and Dane Dukat started it in 2014, and the whole catalog hangs on one idea: a quarter-turn lock in place of screw threads.
The shop runs under a © 2026 footer with six core grinders from $39.99 to $99.99, plus limited editions, screen kits and upgrade parts.
Two engineers and a grinder problem
The company dates its start to 2014, when a pair of young professional engineers set out to fix what they saw wrong with generic grinders. The brief was simple: easy to use and properly functional.
Those engineers were the Dukat brothers. In a February 4, 2020 AZ Marijuana Industry Blazers profile, Colton Dukat said he and Dane had been awarded 10 patents and were selling in more than 14 countries. He framed the brand as a “metaphorical rebirth of public perception and professionalism” for ancillary products.
From Phoenician Engineering to Phoenician Grinders
The company has worn two names. The 2020 interview identified it as Phoenician Engineering, LLC, and DankStop still lists the grinders under that name. The site, the shop and every product page now say Phoenician Grinders.
The current LLC carries the Phoenician Grinders name and dates to September 2020, per its Better Business Bureau profile, which files it under CNC machining with a Phoenix address.
A quarter-turn lock instead of threads
Threads are the enemy here. Phoenician's Quick Lock uses a triple-locking wedge mechanism that joins and separates the sections with a quarter turn. The company pitches it as the fix for the binding, wear and cross-threading that come with screw-threaded grinders.
The teeth are diametrically cut and sharpened to shear rather than shred, with the top and bottom arrays set to engage in stages, like scissors. Smoke Cartel's September 2025 review says the teeth take up about 50% less surface area than typical designs. It also credits the notch locking system and the grip notches cut into the sides.
Screens, spiral braces and trapezoid holes
The four-piece models add a removable stainless steel screen held up by a Fibonacci-inspired spiral brace. Smoke Cartel puts that screen at 0.020 inches thick, against a typical 0.005 inches. An Upgrade Kit swaps in screens in three micron sizes, which Phoenician matches to climate and moisture.
The second stage uses inverse trapezoid holes to cut down the rotations needed. The bottom chamber gets a smooth beveled edge for collecting ground flower and kief, and Smoke Cartel notes magnets coated to resist chipping. Kush Cargo and Smoke Cartel both sell the line as made in the USA.

DankStop lists the medium four-piece at 2.470 inches across, 2.225 inches tall and 6.9 ounces, in blue, green, red, silver, teal, purple, black and Rasta.
The large four-piece is the showpiece. Cannabis Creative Blog's February 2023 review breaks it down: an ashtray and joint holder on the lid, teeth and a sifting screen in the second section, a flower chamber, then a kief catch with a pick. Accessories fill in the rest, with Upgrade Kits from $19.99, a $14.99 Screen Kit, $9.99 Bumper Rings and $4.44 Lexon Rings.
Harvest Moon, Neptune and a 24K gold demo
Limited runs carry a space theme. Harvest Moon and Super Moon start at $99.99. The Universe Collection's Neptune, a color-shifting two-tone in green and blue, is listed but not yet released, as is a 24K Gold Plated Grinder demo unit.
A Mystery Box sells at $84.99 against a $140 list price. Phoenician also takes bulk custom orders, priced at $1,500–$5,000 for 100 units.
Where Phoenician grinders sell in 2026
Phoenician sells direct, with free US shipping on orders over $100. Its limited lifetime warranty covers the teeth, lock notch couplings and screen brace on grinders registered within 90 days of purchase. Orders ship from Southern California within one to two business days.
Retail runs wide. Smoke Cartel's grinder shelf lists eight Phoenician products next to Kannastor, Aerospaced and Goody Glass, and Kush Cargo, DankStop and Sunshine Daydream carry the line too.
Other US makers work the same aluminum format. Santa Cruz Shredder, which sells its grinders as made in USA, fields its own Large 4-Piece Herb Grinder against Phoenician's big four-piece. Phoenician's answer is still the quarter-turn lock.
