Space Gem is Wendy Baker's Humboldt County edibles company, and it runs on ice-water hash. Baker started it in her home kitchen in 2013. The business now operates as Love Gem Inc. under California manufacturing license DCC-10004686, which covers both adult-use and medical. The catalog runs from Space Drops gummies to the single-piece Flying Saucer.
The shelf count keeps climbing. El Leñador counted more than 300 California dispensaries carrying Space Gem in March 2025, and Leaf Magazine put the number past 350 that December.
From a Phish trip to a Humboldt kitchen
Baker grew up in the Chicago area and moved to Humboldt for the cannabis industry, El Leñador reported. The idea landed in 2013 on a girls' trip to a Phish show. A stop at Harborside left her convinced she could make her own edibles.
She took candy-making classes and started cooking at home, handing the results to friends. One friend walked samples into a local dispensary, and the shop wanted to stock them. The first packs went out with Avery labels. The company says Baker set out to make edibles for California's medical cannabis market with Humboldt-grown cannabis and no dyes, harsh chemicals, solvents or fillers.
Ice-water hash since 2014
The first batches used butane hash oil. Baker switched to solventless ice-water hash in 2014, Budist reported in February 2025, and the whole line has run on it since. Leaf Magazine's December 2025 profile lays out the kitchen method: the hash is decarboxylated, then bound to coconut oil before it goes into the candy.
Sourcing runs through Humboldt relationships. Leaf reported in December 2021 that Baker worked exclusively with Craig Nejedly at Talking Trees Farms for sun-grown, soil-grown cannabis. Its 2025 profile credits a long-standing collaboration with Have Hash founder Jacob Stockwell for the hash itself.
The rest of the recipe stays short. Budist lists organic fruit-derived flavors, vegetable-based colors and vegan formulas, and El Leñador adds gluten-free. In 2021 Leaf described candy hand-packed into recyclable tins instead of plastic bags, with designer Shelise Landry handling packaging and marketing.
Space Drops, belts and Flying Saucers
Space Drops are the original line. Budist lists them as gummies in standard and sour versions, including 10mg THC pieces and 1:1 CBD-to-THC options. The home page sells Sour Gems in ten-piece packs. Mind Expanding Belts come as 100mg gummy belts divided into 10mg portions.
The line has reached past gummies too. Gem Juice is a beverage enhancer, and Cosmic Tincture comes as a 60ml bottle holding 600mg THC. Leaf counted 20 rotating flavors in 2021, with fig, watermelon and banana among the regulars.
Flying Saucers are the big swing: a single 9-gram piece carrying 100mg THC, in varieties such as Sour Tangerine and Sour Watermelon. Weedmaps' Space Gem page also lists Sugar Free Saucers. Baker told Leaf in December 2025 that more Flying Saucers SKUs were in development for 2026.
Mini Gems and functional mushrooms
Mini Gems arrived in 2025 with four SKUs built around functional mushrooms, Leaf reported, in flavors such as Sweet Cherry and Sweet Fig. The home page lists twenty-piece Mini Gems packs, including one made with lion's mane mushroom and one that pairs THC with CBN.
That lion's mane gummy made the 2026 California Cannabis Awards medal list. GreenState reported the medalists on July 2, 2026, ahead of the Golden Bear show at the California State Fair in Sacramento on July 18.
Golden Bears, Emerald Cup and Best of Humboldt
The trophy shelf is stacked. Sour Spacedrops took first place in edible gummies at the 2023 Emerald Cup, a win the company lists on its press page and El Leñador dated to 2023.
A year later came the big one. The North Coast Journal reported on August 15, 2024 that Space Gem won a Golden Bear in edibles at the California State Fair for its CBD 1:1 assorted Spacedrops. Baker told the paper the win was history-making for her as a woman, as an edible maker and for everyone in Humboldt who works with the plant.
The hometown vote keeps coming too. Space Gem's site lists Best of Humboldt wins in the local cannabis product category for 2016 and for every year from 2018 through 2026.
Love Gem Inc. in 2026
Baker still runs the company as founder and CEO of Love Gem Inc., operating as Space Gem. She sat down with The Women in CannaBusiness Podcast at Hall of Flowers Ventura 2026, in an episode published July 7, 2026. The talk covered Humboldt's craft heritage and the local jobs the brand creates. Hall of Flowers is the trade show where she recorded it.
Wholesale moves through the Nabis marketplace, and the retail finder runs on Weedmaps, where the brand page lists the Space Gem catalog and the DCC license. Around Arcata, El Leñador named Humboldt's Premium, Herb & Market Humboldt, Pacific Paradise and the Fireplace as stockists in March 2025.
The brand also sells its own merch. The site carries a HASH Carhartt hoodie at $120 plus HASH and Alien trucker hats at $25. Baker told Leaf that 2026 would center on refining operations and consistency across the line.
