Sprig is the Newport Beach, California company behind sparkling THC and CBD drinks. It launched in 2015 with THC sodas for California dispensaries, then took hemp CBD cans national in 2018. In September 2026 its online store sells hemp delta-9 THC cans in Yuzu and Honeycrisp Apple, at 10mg per can and $125 for a case of 24.
Michael Lewis is the founder and CEO named in the company's 2018 launch announcement. Sprig ships free across the continental United States and sells to buyers 21 and over.
A Newport Beach soda built for dispensaries
Sprig started on licensed California shelves. The brand's original THC site described a can holding 20mg of THC split into two 10mg servings, made with California cannabis and all-natural ingredients. The flavors listed there were Citrus and Citrus Zero Sugar.
The dispensary run moved quickly. By June 2018, BevNET reported, Sprig's THC sodas were stocked in hundreds of dispensaries across California. That footprint gave the company a base to go national with a different cannabinoid.
The 2018 turn to hemp CBD
On June 5, 2018, Sprig announced a hemp-derived CBD line at 20mg per can, sold online and slated for health food grocers nationwide in the third quarter of 2018. The launch set had four flavors. Citrus Original used cane sugar, while Citrus Zero Sugar, Sparkling Lemon Tea Zero Sugar and Melon Zero Sugar were sweetened with stevia and erythritol.
The CBD cans carried 0% THC, the company said in 2019. That let Sprig sell outside the dispensary system for the first time, through health food grocers and beverage wholesalers instead of licensed cannabis retail.
Seventeen states by 2019
The rollout was fast. On March 26, 2019, Sprig announced it had reached 17 states and more than 4,000 retail accounts, and billed itself as the most widely distributed CBD beverage in the United States. Independent Anheuser-Busch and Pepsi wholesalers carried it, along with Fabiano Brothers in Michigan and Wisconsin.
The 2019 map stretched coast to coast:

- Midwest: Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Kentucky
- South: Texas and Florida
- Northeast: Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Maine and Rhode Island
A second push came on October 5, 2021. Breakthru Beverage Group, the alcohol wholesaler, signed on to carry Sprig CBD in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois and Virginia, plus Connecticut through its CDI affiliate. The release called it Breakthru's entry into CBD beverages. Josh Rosinsky, Sprig's executive vice president of sales, and Breakthru's Drew Levinson announced the deal.
Sleek cans and lab reports
In September 2020, Sprig moved the CBD line into 12-ounce sleek cans in Original Citrus, Citrus Zero Sugar, Melon Zero Sugar and Lemon Tea Zero Sugar. The company said the cans were filled at a USDA-certified, high-volume canning facility with more than 50 years of beverage experience. Orders shipped from three distribution centers, two on the West Coast and one in the Midwest.
Each can carried a QR code linking to its lab report. That habit stuck. Sprig's site keeps a lab results page for current products, and the company says it uses lab-tested hemp CBD and THC from licensed U.S. farms, canned in a regulated, food-grade facility. Every product is rated at 0.3% THC or less, and the company markets the cans as naturally flavored, low calorie and gluten free.
From Rachael Ray to Newsweek
The CBD cans picked up lifestyle press as the line spread. Rachael Ray Every Day put Sprig on its list of favorite seltzers and sparkling waters in August 2020, and the Miami Herald included it in a September 2020 roundup of CBD drinks. Byrdie singled it out in December 2020 for its low calorie count.
Newsweek followed on January 29, 2021, when Tyler Hayes included Sprig in a list of eight alcohol-free drinks under $40 for Dry January. In September 2021, 10 Buds named Sprig among its favorite cannabis drinks.
What Sprig sells in 2026
The September 2026 store splits into THC Sprig and CBD Sprig collections. The THC cans hold 10mg of hemp delta-9 THC each and carry no caffeine. Yuzu and Honeycrisp Apple are in stock at $125 per 24-pack, both sweetened with cane sugar. Honeycrisp Apple went live on the store in June 2024. Citrus Original and Citrus Zero Sugar THC cases are marked sold out.
The CBD side lists 20mg cans at $100 per 24-pack in Citrus Original, Citrus Zero Sugar and Melon Zero Sugar, all three marked sold out in September 2026. Sprig also runs a wholesale program for stores and venues, with registration required.
The hemp THC cans put Sprig in the same national lane as Los Angeles-based CANN and Pennsylvania's WYNK. Back on licensed California shelves, where Sprig started, THC sparkling drinks such as Lagunitas Hi-Fi Sessions carry on the dispensary format.
