Vibes Papers

VIBES Fine Rolling Papers is Berner's rolling paper line — thin, flavor-first papers and cones sold in smoke shops nationwide. The papers are cultivated and crafted in France, then cut and kitted in the Dominican Republic, and they come in Rice, Hemp, Organic Hemp, Ultra Thin and Blanco.

Who's Behind It

Berner — the California rapper who founded Cookies in 2008 — is VIBES' co-founder and CEO. The brand launched as a joint venture with Greenlane Holdings, the company behind the Higher Standards accessory shops. Berner's pitch was never complicated: he wanted a paper thin enough to get out of the flower's way.

What They Actually Make

The paper range runs Rice, Hemp, Organic Hemp, Ultra Thin and Blanco, in 1¼, King Size Slim, Cubano and papers-with-tips packs. The Organic Hemp collection, added in March 2021, is built on 100% organic hemp fibers and sealed with organic Arabic gum from the Acacia tree. Cones come pre-rolled across the same blends, and the brand also does apparel.

The Cali Changed the Pre-Roll

In October 2021 VIBES introduced The Cali, a pre-roll shaped like a wide cylinder instead of the usual cone. It copies the fat, even joint Berner is known for rolling by hand, and the straight barrel is built for airflow and an easier pull. It comes in one, two and three gram sizes, offered across the four paper lines VIBES had then.

How It Got Here

By early 2021 the Rice, Hemp and Ultra Thin lines were already on shelves, and the Organic Hemp launch rounded the range out. Greenlane sold its stake in the business in July 2022 for $5.3 million and stayed on as a distributor. Berner's read at the time: the brand was still scratching the surface.

Release Papers

The brand's sharpest move had nothing to do with paper weight. In July 2023 VIBES teamed with the Last Prisoner Project and creative agency Mother on Release Papers, a run that printed the name of an incarcerated person on each paper alongside a QR code linking to a clemency petition and letter-writing campaign.

Four men serving cannabis sentences were named on the packs — Edwin Rubis, Hector McGurk, Moe Taher and Ricardo Ashmeade — and a portion of the profits went to the Last Prisoner Project. It is the rare piece of branded merch that asked buyers to do something instead of just repping a logo.

Where to Cop Them

VIBES sits in smoke shops and dispensary accessory cases nationwide — rolling papers are accessories, so there is no state-by-state gate on them. Online headshops and wholesale distributors carry the full spread, including the harder-to-find Cubano and Cali formats. Availability by blend and size still varies shop to shop.

The High Rise Read

Rolling papers are a crowded, cheap category where most brands compete on graphics. VIBES went the other way and competed on the paper — thinner stock, a real blend range, and a pre-roll shape nobody else was making. That is why it stuck.

If you are picking one, Organic Hemp is the play for 100% organic hemp fiber — Berner built it thinner than Ultra Thin and tuned for flavor. The Cali is worth trying once just to feel how a straight barrel smokes differently. 21+ only, which the brand says plainly itself.
