PSN, the Proper Smoke Network, is a connoisseur cannabis video network built by Lance Harman of First Smoke of the Day and Adam Pain and Paul Christmon of Proper Doinks. It pitches itself as ESPN for cannabis, treating growers and brands like pro athletes. Its 2026 site runs four shows, a magazine and the PSN+ membership.
Two creator shows become one network
Forbes announced the partnership on October 31, 2025, in a piece by Javier Hasse on the connoisseur creator economy. Harman brought the First Smoke of the Day archive and audio audience. Pain and Christmon brought the competitive scoring systems they had built at Proper Doinks. Forbes put Proper Doinks at roughly 850 paid Patreon members in October 2025, while First Smoke of the Day drew about 65% of its revenue from sponsorships.
Harman’s stated aim is to be “the most trusted voice in cannabis media” rather than the biggest. A High Times feature on November 20, 2025 called the project “ESPN meets cannabis” in its headline. It named Monika Beuzet as editor-in-chief and said the first shows would launch the following month.
Proper Doinks and the scoring method
Pain and Christmon met around 2018 while working at Connected Cannabis Co. in Sacramento. They started by locking down how to roll and smoke a doink, their word for a joint holding an eighth or more, before judging what was in it. From there they built a two-category scoring framework for flower.
That method put them on judging panels. In summer 2022 they worked through a full set of judging kits for Zalympix, the competition presented by Greenwolf. They rolled more than 100 joints to score the entries. They also run Proper Selections, a distribution company that sells their branded glass tips.
MidsBusters, Hot Slicez and the lineup
MidsBusters hunts down the most expensive, sought-after and award-winning batches in the country and judges them solely on smoke quality. High Times named Malique as its host. PRL, the Proper Rollers League, pits pro rollers head to head on skill and palate, with Like Mike and Blaine hosting.
Hot Slicez is the network’s debate show, and viewers vote on who wins each argument. Its host is JP, the voice behind the Good PizzZa Podcast. Improper rounds out the lineup with budget-friendly reviews and competitions built on flower from California dispensaries. At launch, High Times also listed Budtender Battles, hosted by David Lewis, with retail staff defending their menus.
PSN+ and the magazine
PSN+ sells live, uncut access to the full lineup plus early releases, and the network’s Patreon page carries the same members-only live content. The PSN Magazine, a limited-edition print issue, documents the brands, growers, batches and events pushing the smoke-quality movement forward. On YouTube the network runs as @propersmokenetwork under the tagline “Serving Connoisseurs. Anytime. Anywhere.”
Roots at Terp Basel
Both founding shows came up through the connoisseur event circuit. First Smoke of the Day filmed at Terp Basel in 2023 with a full cast, and Terp Basel billed Proper Doinks as a special guest at its Miami gathering.
