The dishwasher is the feature
That sounds like a throwaway line and it is not. Cleaning is the single reason most bongs stop getting used — the ritual of isopropyl, salt, bags and a sink full of resin water is enough friction to retire a piece to a cupboard.
Weeday's answer is to make the whole thing separable down to the component and dishwasher-safe once it is. That converts the worst job in owning a bong into loading a rack, and it is a more useful design decision than another percolator would be.
Percolator and ice catcher
The percolator splits the smoke stream before the water, which is where the harshness comes out. The ice-catcher tube is the second stage: notches in the neck hold cubes above the waterline so the smoke passes through cold air on its way up.
Running both together is the point. Water strips the harshness and ice drops the temperature, and they are separate jobs — a heavily percolated bong with no ice still delivers warm smoke.
Silicone over glass
The silicone covers are doing structural work rather than styling. Borosilicate handles heat and the smoke path well but it is still glass at the contact points, and a modular piece has more contact points than a sealed one by definition.
Wrapping those in silicone means the joins take the knocks instead of the glass, and it gives you something grippy to hold on a piece you are regularly taking apart and putting back together.
