Florida Grapes is a Jungle Boys hybrid built from Grand Daddy Purple and TK Bx1, a Triangle Kush backcross. The California cultivator, operating since 2006, bred it as a mostly indica plant. The cross joins purple California genetics on one side with a Florida Kush line on the other.
The most notable detail sits in the second parent. TK Bx1 is Triangle Kush crossed with Triangle Larry OG and then backcrossed, which gives the Florida side of the family a deliberate, repeated emphasis.
Grand Daddy Purple on the California side
Grand Daddy Purple was popularized in 2003 by Ken Estes and became a California staple of the early 2000s. Florida Grapes traces that parent to Purple Urkel and Big Bud. Other accounts describe it as a cross of Mendo Purps, Skunk and Afghan genetics. Either way, it arrives as a heavy indica with a long commercial history.
Growers know Grand Daddy Purple for two traits. Its flowers turn deep purple under a thick coat of white resin, and it produces large harvests on a roughly 60-day indoor flowering cycle. Those are the qualities a breeder brings in when the goal is color, density and a compact finishing window.
Triangle Kush and the Florida connection
Triangle Kush, also sold as Triangle OG, is an indica that came out of Florida. Its name refers to the state's three historic cannabis hubs: Jacksonville, Miami and Tampa. The cut descends from TKg TK41 and Pluto genetics, and growers typically run it for around 70 days.

How TK Bx1 runs through the Jungle Boys catalog
Jungle Boys has returned to the same Triangle material several times. Gator Breath crosses Motor-Breath, itself Chem Dawg × SFV OG, with a TKBx male. Like Florida Grapes, it leans mostly indica, finishes in about 65 days and has never been offered as feminized seed.
Junglato takes another route, pairing TK with Jungle Cake. Its extended family reaches back through Gelato, Wedding Cake, Girl Scout Cookies and OG Kush, and it also flowers in roughly 65 days. Set side by side, the three plants show one breeding program testing the Triangle backcross against very different partners: a purple indica, a Chem Dawg and SFV OG hybrid, and a Gelato-descended cake line.
That approach fits the company's ongoing pheno hunt work, which it features on its own site. Jungle Boys marked its 20th anniversary with a gold mylar release, and it trademarks the slogan Playing With Fire.
Growing Florida Grapes from seed
Florida Grapes is an indica-leading hybrid that works indoors and outdoors. The breeder lists a flowering period of eight to ten weeks, which lands close to 63 days in most rooms. It has never been sold as feminized seed, so growers work from regular seeds and run males alongside females.
That regular-seed format matters for anyone planning a hunt. With both sexes in the pack, a grower can select keeper females or hold back a male for further breeding work. Both parents are indica lines with flowering times of roughly 60–70 days, so the cross sits squarely in that range.
A parent for the next generation
Florida Grapes has already moved into other breeders' work. 808 Genetics crossed it with Oni Seed Co's Papaya to create Purpaya, a documented descendant of the line. That cross carries the Grand Daddy Purple and Triangle Kush families into a new pairing with Papaya.
