Gelonade is Connected Cannabis Co.'s cross of Lemon Tree and Gelato 41, and it is one of the few modern citrus cultivars with a real trophy case behind it. Lemon peel and floral lift sit up front, cream and gas hold the floor. It has been a Connected flagship since the late 2010s, and it still gets copied.
Where It Comes From
Connected spent a decade building its reputation on a short list of house cuts rather than a sprawling catalog. Gelonade is the one that kept collecting hardware. It ran the California competition circuit hard in the years after its release and came out of that stretch as one of the brand's signature listings.
That shapes how the name travels. Gelonade is a Connected product line first and a seed line second, so the version on a licensed menu is usually the brand's own flower rather than somebody else's grow. Producer and batch still decide what ends up in the jar.
The Cross
Connected Cannabis Co. holds breeder and brand credit, and the company states the genetics plainly: Lemon Tree crossed with Gelato #41.
Both halves show up in the glass. Lemon Tree supplies the sour citrus, the floral edge, and a good share of the fuel. Gelato #41 — the Sherbinskis selection also sold as Bacio Gelato — brings cream, dessert sweetness, resin, and a darker gassy base. That pairing is why a strain reading like fresh lemon zest on the first crack can finish on cookie dough and pepper.
Connected names D-limonene, beta-caryophyllene, and linalool as the top three terpenes on its own panels. Those rankings belong to a lab report, not to the cultivar. Harvest date, cure, storage, and testing method all move them.
Flower commonly runs elongated and tightly formed in bright to medium green, with orange pistils and a trichome coat heavy enough to leave the bud looking pale. Some batches show purple shading near the sugar leaves. Color is not part of the definition.
What It Left Behind
Two placements are documented with entrant, category, and year. At the 2018 NorCal Cannabis Cup, Gelonade by Connected took first place in Best Sativa Flower, ahead of Atrium Farms' Mimosa #A5 and Purple Frost Genetics' Master Blaster.
At the 2021 Emerald Cup, it won the inaugural indoor flower competition — the year the Cup finally opened a category to indoor growers. Connected has treated it as a breeding asset since, folding it into later work. The experience is generally described as uplifting and balanced rather than pinned to either pole, though dose, tolerance, and format move that further than any label on the menu.
