Where It Comes From
Stoned Ninja is an American breeder best known for Ninja Fruit and Ninja Smash. He bred for Ocean Grown Seeds before founding Dojo Seed Co., which is where Purple Pie is listed. That history matters more than usual here, because Purple Pie is an in-house cross — he made the male side of the family himself rather than borrowing somebody else's pollen.
It was never released feminized. Regular seed only, indoor or outdoor, roughly 63 days of flowering. There was no launch campaign, no clone-only cut trading at collector prices, no press cycle. The Cross

The mother is the Key Lime Pie cut of GSC and the father is Ninja Fruit F2bx1 — a worked backcross generation, not a random seed off the shelf. Ninja Fruit itself is Stoned Ninja's Grapefruit Haze crossed with Grape Ape, released through Ocean Grown Seeds and generally described as an even hybrid finishing in eight to nine weeks.
Grape Ape is the likeliest source of Purple Pie's color and its grape lead. Key Lime Pie brings the Cookies side: dough, mint, earth and fuel. Parent tendencies are not guarantees, though, and a regular-seed population scatters — two growers running the same pack can end up with visibly different plants.
The consistent description is sweet grape up front over sharp earth, spice and a touch of skunk, closer to fermented fruit and dry herb than to bright candy. It follows through the same way, with berry sweetness first and an earthy exit rather than a citrus one.
Color is the visual signature — purple leaves and dark purple-to-blue undertones running through the buds. Late-season night temperatures in the 55 to 65 degree range are what growers credit for that expression in the Ninja Fruit line, so pigment in any given batch depends on the room as much as the phenotype. It opens euphoric and settles couch-leaning, which puts it squarely in the evening.
What It Left Behind
Purple Pie's footprint is catalog-level rather than cultural: a documented Dojo Seed Co. release from a breeder whose Ninja Fruit line circulated widely enough to turn up inside other people's crosses.
That is a quieter kind of influence than a Cup win, and it tends to last longer. Trophy strains age out of fashion. A male somebody keeps reaching for stays in the gene pool for a decade, showing up in plants that never mention where the grape came from.
