Purple Pie is an indica-dominant hybrid bred by Stoned Ninja of Dojo Seed Co. It crosses a female Key Lime Pie phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies with a Ninja Fruit F2bx1 male, Dojo’s own worked fruit line.
The strain finishes in about 63 days of flowering and grows indoors or outdoors. Dojo has only ever released it as regular seed; Purple Pie has never been sold in feminized form.
Stoned Ninja and the Dojo Seed Co. catalog
Stoned Ninja is an American breeder who worked for Ocean Grown Seeds before starting Dojo Seed Co. Seedfinder credits him as the creator of Ninja Fruit, Ninja Smash and Purple Pie, among other releases.
Seedfinder lists five Dojo strains in total: Down to Pound, Hoelato, New Citrus, Ninja Fruit and Purple Pie. Two of those five, Ninja Fruit and Purple Pie, are directly linked, since the first is a parent of the second.
The Dojo name lives on at dojoseedco.com. The site now presents itself as a Stoned Ninja novelty shop for physical and digital art.
Key Lime Pie, a Girl Scout Cookies mother
The mother of Purple Pie is Key Lime Pie, a phenotype of Girl Scout Cookies. Leafly records the cross simply as female GSC × male Ninja Fruit and credits Stoned Ninja as breeder.
GSC itself comes from the California breeder Jigga, who crossed an OG Kush sub-type with F1 Durban. That makes Key Lime Pie a sibling phenotype to cuts such as Thin Mint and Platinum GSC.
Leafly lists GSC as a parent of modern staples including Sunset Sherbet and Lemon Cherry Gelato. Purple Pie pulls from the same Cookies root, with OG Kush, Cherry Pie and Durban Poison sitting in its ancestry.
Ninja Fruit, the Dojo father
Ninja Fruit is Stoned Ninja’s cross of Grapefruit Haze × Grape Ape. Grapefruit Haze combines Grapefruit with Super Silver Haze, while Grape Ape descends from Granddaddy Purple.
Ninja Fruit flowers in 56–65 days and, like Purple Pie, has never been released as feminized seed. Indoor growers on Seedfinder rate its yield very high, its bud-to-leaf ratio super, and its dried buds rock-hard and extremely compact.
For Purple Pie, Stoned Ninja did not use the original Ninja Fruit. He used an F2bx1 male instead. That is a second-generation Ninja Fruit plant from a line backcrossed once.
Purple color, 20% THC and a Grape Candy offspring
Purple Pie lives up to its name in the garden. Weedmaps describes purple leaves and dark purple and blue undertones on the buds. Leafly credits that color to the Ninja Fruit side of the cross.
Leafly lists Purple Pie at 20% THC and 1% CBG. The flavor leans grape, with an earthy exhale. Reported effects start with a burst of euphoria and settle into a relaxed, sleepy, couch-bound finish.
The strain has also moved into other breeders’ work. Diamond Rock Genetics used Purple Pie as a parent in Grape Candy, carrying the Dojo cross into a new generation.
