Arcata Fire is a Humboldt County extraction brand built around single-source, fresh-frozen cannabis and the idea that a concentrate should retain the identity of the farm and cultivar that produced it. Its catalog spans solventless live rosin, live resin, vape hardware and jarred concentrates, with licensed manufacturing and distribution based in Arcata, California.
Founders and origin
Industry veterans Case Mandel and Lizandro Salazar developed Arcata Fire through the ArcataX extraction operation. In a 2021 Cannabis & Tech Today interview, Mandel described working with early closed-loop hydrocarbon extraction equipment after years of traditional-market experience, while Salazar discussed long relationships with Humboldt farmers. The brand launched into the legal California market around 2021 and quickly won the Emerald Cup’s live-resin cartridge category.
The founding story matters because Arcata Fire was not assembled as a white-label vape name. Its operators came from extraction and farm relationships first, then built a premium consumer label around their best input material.
From harvest to extract
Arcata Fire says partner farms harvest by hand and freeze material on site to approximately -80°C within minutes. That cryogenic step is designed to preserve volatile compounds before transport. The company describes much of its sourcing as sun-grown, off-grid or regenerative, but those are first-party descriptions of its partner network rather than third-party certifications for every batch.
The live-resin process uses hydrocarbon extraction, while live rosin is solventless. Arcata Fire also says its diamonds can mature for two to six months. The shared principle is traceability: single-source and single-batch inputs are kept distinct instead of blending anonymous material into a standardized oil.
Current products
The current catalog includes solventless live rosin, half-gram rosin-syrup all-in-ones, solventless live-rosin cartridges and limited one-gram rosin collaborations. Hydrocarbon offerings include live-resin and sauce cartridges, high-potency carts, live-resin diamond jars, badder and sauce. Wildfire vapes and a sun-grown concentrate line broaden the price and format range.
Those names describe different extraction methods and textures, not interchangeable products. Rosin is produced without hydrocarbon solvent; live resin uses fresh-frozen material and solvent extraction; diamonds refer to crystalline cannabinoid structures commonly paired with terpene-rich sauce.
Awards and collaborations
Arcata Fire’s awards page documents repeated placements across both solventless and hydrocarbon categories. At the 2024 California State Fair Cannabis Awards, its Ridgeline Farms collaboration on a Lantz live-rosin-syrup all-in-one received the Golden Bear and a gold medal in the solventless-cart category. The brand also lists 2023 Emerald Cup first places for Strawberry Skittles live resin and Banana Punch solventless vape, plus a 2021 first place for a Runtz live-resin cartridge.
Its ledger also includes first-place finishes for Orange Apricot solvent dabs and GMO Cookies rosin concentrate, with additional second- and third-place results dating to 2019. These are specific product and batch achievements; they do not mean every Arcata Fire item has won an award.
Where to find it
Arcata Fire holds California manufacturing and distribution licenses and distributes across the state through licensed dispensaries and delivery services. The company lists its base on West End Road in Arcata and provides a retailer finder. Availability changes by batch, so the live locator is more reliable than a static store list.
The High Rise read
Arcata Fire’s strongest credential is the connection between experienced extractors, named farm collaborations and an unusually detailed competition record.
