Arcata Fire is a Humboldt County concentrate house that treats a vape cartridge as craft extract rather than commodity oil. It is also one of the most decorated names in the category, with an awards list long enough to be its own page on the brand's site.
What they make
The range splits along the solvent line. On the solventless side there is live rosin, sold in cartridges and as concentrate. On the hydrocarbon side there are the Og Sauce Carts, Hi-Potency Sauce Carts, Brilliant Diamonds, badder and sauce concentrates.
There is also a sun-grown line and Wildfire Vapes. Running both solventless and solvent extraction is unusual, and it means the brand can put the same Humboldt input through whichever process suits it.
The awards
This is where the brand makes its case, and the wins are specific rather than vague. At the 2024 CA State Fair Cannabis Awards it took a Golden Bear Award and a gold medal for solventless cart, the Golden Bear going to a collaboration with Ridgeline Farms on a 100% live rosin syrup all-in-one.
The Emerald Cup record runs deeper. First places include live resin with Strawberry Skittles and solventless vape with Banana Punch in 2023, and a live resin cart with Runtz in 2021, alongside firsts for solvent dabs and rosin concentrate. Second and third places stretch back to 2019.
Where the material comes from
Arcata Fire sources from Humboldt's sun-grown farms and maintains a named farm programme rather than buying anonymous biomass. That is the whole argument for a regional concentrate brand: the terroir has to survive into the cartridge, and it cannot if nobody knows which field it came from.
Much of the vape market runs on high-THC distillate dressed with botanical terpenes from outside the plant. Arcata Fire builds around extracts that keep the source strain's own terpene profile, so the vapour tastes like the flower rather than like a flavouring.
Getting the most out of it
