Cheeba Chews is a Colorado edible brand founded in Boulder in 2009 by medical cannabis grower James Howler with two partners the company names as Dave and Eric. The original product was a compact cannabis-infused chocolate taffy. The line now spans taffies, caramels, gummies, cannabinoid-ratio products, live-rosin products and market-specific high-potency formats.
What makes it a Cheeba Chew
The signature product is a baked taffy rather than a conventional pectin gummy. The company describes a lipid-based formulation and a three-stage testing process covering plant material, extracted oil and the finished chew. The early Deca Dose was the original high-potency format and survives in the catalog as Extra Strength Chocolate.
Current product families
The Colorado taffy board runs Orange Bliss (THC:CBG:THCv), Live Rosin Strawberry, Key Lime Calm (THC:CBD), THCV Charged Mocha Chocolate, Trifecta Caramel (CBG:CBD:THC), Joint Relief Salted Caramel (CBC:CBD:THC), Sleepy Chews Chocolate (CBN:THC), Sativa Chocolate, Indica Chocolate and Hybrid Caramel, with Sativa and Indica Mega Dose and Extra Strength as the high-potency tier.
Green Hornet gummies
Green Hornet is the company's gummy brand: Jalapeno Honeydew Melon, Habanero Pineapple Mango, SOURS mixed packs, Trifecta Good Mood, Goodnight Grape, One:One Black Cherry, and sativa, indica and hybrid fruit, watermelon, green apple and blue raspberry flavors, with a 500 mg medical range in Colorado.
Licensing model and markets
Cheeba Chews licenses rather than franchises: partner manufacturers receive the same base taffy product, proprietary machinery and intensive training. The company's About page names Colorado, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada and Oklahoma.
Recognition
The company's history page lists a 2011 High Times Best Edible award and a 2012 High Times finalist placement, and cites High Times magazine for the line "America's Favorite Edible."
