CLSICS is a San Diego-rooted California cannabis manufacturer founded by Mathew “Mat” Trautt and launched in April 2020. The brand began with rosin-infused pre-rolls and an immersive art installation, then expanded into live rosin, vapes, gummies, tinctures and multiple infused-joint formats. Its “art company that sells weed” identity comes from a collaboration with Southern California artist BB Bastidas, not from a separate fine-art business.
Founder and pandemic-era launch
Founder and CEO Mathew Trautt introduced CLSICS shortly before April 20, 2020, during the first months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The initial retail partner was Mankind in San Diego, where BB Bastidas created a temporary lobby installation. Trautt described the early product idea as making rosin more portable and accessible without requiring a dab rig.
The launch line used indoor flower and rosin in 0.7-gram and 1.3-gram pre-rolls. Contemporary coverage identified the larger version as one gram of flower plus 0.3 gram of rosin and the smaller version as 0.5 gram of flower plus 0.2 gram of rosin. Those launch specifications document the origin of the line; current packages control for today’s products.
Current pre-roll formats
CLSICS now lists 0.3 g, 0.5 g, 0.7 g and 1.3 g pre-rolls; 1 g hash pre-rolls; and 1.2 g Trifecta pre-rolls. The Trifecta combines flower, hash and rosin. Product pages say the rosin-infused joints are assembled from strain-specific cannabis with fresh-frozen ice-water hash rosin processed in-house.
Current strain pages connect formats across cultivar families such as Cactus Crush, Rainbow Beltz, Deep Purple, Clockwork Lemon and Ghost Vapor. Percentages shown on the website are snapshots attached to listed products, not guaranteed potency for every future batch.
Live rosin, vapes, gummies and tinctures
The concentrate catalog divides live rosin into Tier 2 and Tier 3 selections. CLSICS describes live rosin as trichomes collected from fresh-frozen material and pressed with low heat and pressure without hydrocarbon solvents. The brand also lists all-in-one vapes and cartridges, two-, ten- and twenty-piece gummies, and tinctures. A product category name should not be generalized across the whole catalog: consult each label for ingredients and extraction disclosures.
Licenses and California distribution
The official site publishes California distribution license C11-0001355-LIC and manufacturing license CDPH-10004614. Product pages link to licensed-retailer menus, while the brand’s own “Find Us” page does not provide a reliable permanent inventory list. Store availability should therefore be confirmed with a licensed dispensary.
2024 mandatory recall
On September 11, 2024, the California Department of Cannabis Control issued a mandatory recall for a single CLSICS 10 Hash Infused Dog Walkers infused pre-roll product because of Category I pesticide contamination involving paclobutrazol. The regulator instructed consumers to compare package UID and batch information and dispose of or return matching product. The notice applies to the specified recalled product, not automatically to every CLSICS item.
2025 voluntary edible recall
On November 24, 2025, CLSICS initiated a voluntary recall covering multiple edible batches after the DCC determined their packaging and labeling were attractive to children. CLSICS published the affected UIDs and said much of the packaging had already been discontinued. This was a packaging/misbranding action, distinct from the 2024 pesticide recall. Consumers with old CLSICS gummies should use the official recall page rather than relying on flavor name alone.
Awards and evidence limits
No current official competition ledger ties specific trophies to CLSICS in a way that survives cultivar-versus-brand attribution. Older claims that Sweet Tooth won competitions may refer to a cultivar entered by another producer. They are excluded here. Likewise, strain-page descriptions of relaxation, anxiety relief or sleep are marketing statements and are not reproduced as medical facts.
What to verify
