At a glance
G Pen is the vaporizer and consumption-hardware brand created by Grenco Science in Los Angeles. Since 2012 it has moved from an early portable concentrate pen into a broad device family for dry herb, concentrates and 510 cartridges, with direct sales, authorized retailers and international distribution.
Brand snapshot
The name sits between cannabis culture and consumer electronics. G Pen does not cultivate or sell marijuana; it builds reusable hardware intended for legal dry herb, concentrates and cartridges. That distinction matters when evaluating product availability, regulation and warranty coverage.
Founder and origin
Chris Folkerts founded Grenco Science with business partner Anthony Marino. Folkerts has described seeing an early cannabis adaptation of e-cigarette technology at the former LA Confidential dispensary, then deciding the category needed reliable products at scale. Grenco Science was formed in 2012 after roughly a year of experimentation and distribution work.
The first device was planned as the G-O, but its packaging showed only Grenco's “G.” Customers called it the G Pen, and the informal name became the product family. Folkerts has also acknowledged that many of the first 15,000 units were defective, making the company's beginning a useful record of demand, failure and rapid iteration rather than a polished origin myth.
Products and formats
The current catalog spans the Dash II and Dash+ dry-herb vaporizers; the Micro+ concentrate pen; Connect and Roam concentrate systems; the Hyer tabletop vaporizer; Hydout and Original 510 batteries; and the Melt heated loading tool. Replacement glass, tanks, coils, mouthpieces and other accessories vary by model and stock.
Collaborations and cultural reach
G Pen's earliest major collaboration was with Snoop Dogg. Later editions and partnerships have included Cookies, Dr. Greenthumb, Lemonnade and the Grateful Dead, among others. These projects helped establish the brand outside specialist hardware circles, but a collaboration finish does not change a device's core specifications or warranty.
Ownership and trademark context
Grenco Science originally registered the G PEN trademark; public trademark records now identify GS Holistic, LLC as the owner. Grenco also acquired the Stündenglass gravity-infusion hardware business in 2020. G Pen remains the vaporizer line, while Stündenglass is a distinct sister hardware brand.
Distribution and support
Folkerts reported distribution in thousands of stores within the first year and, by 2022, in legal U.S. markets and roughly 60 countries. Current availability should be checked through G Pen or an authorized seller because models, regional storefronts and stock change. The official support area includes manuals, troubleshooting and authenticity guidance.
Warranty, counterfeits and care
Warranty terms are model-specific. The current FAQ advertises two years on select vaporizer products, while other electronics and older documentation may carry one-year terms; tanks, coils and other consumables are generally excluded. Buyers should retain proof of purchase and read the exact product warranty instead of assuming one rule covers the full catalog.
G Pen has documented extensive counterfeiting and warns against unauthorized marketplaces. Verify the seller, packaging and serial or UPC information before use. Clean only as directed, inspect batteries and glass, stop using damaged hardware, and never charge with an incompatible power source.
Achievements and press
The durable achievement is category longevity: a 2012 portable-vape startup became an internationally distributed hardware family and survived the transition from early pen systems to controlled-temperature dry-herb and concentrate devices. No specific design award is asserted here because a current first-party award register was not found.
Profile scope and buying guidance. This profile covers G Pen hardware, not the safety or legality of material placed inside it. Device pages, prices and collaboration inventory change frequently. Compare heat method, chamber material, battery serviceability, replacement-part availability and the exact warranty before choosing a model, and purchase cannabis only through licensed channels where legal.
