G Pen is the vaporizer line Grenco Science has built out of Los Angeles since 2012, when Chris Folkerts turned a dispensary epiphany into a pen his customers named before he could. The 2026 catalog runs from the $49.95 Dash II and Micro II to torchless e-rigs and $12.95 510 batteries, backed by an artist-collab history that stretches from Snoop Dogg to the Grateful Dead.
LA Confidential and the pen nobody named
Folkerts traces the company to an "it" moment at LA Confidential, a Los Angeles dispensary he calls an epicenter of the culture at the time. He saw where vaporization could go, realized nobody was building it well at scale, and started Grenco Science in February 2012. The company name came from a branding agency and, by his account, was picked partly for search engines rather than meaning.
The first device was supposed to be called the G-O. Nothing on the product or the box said so, people started calling it the G Pen, and Folkerts went with it.
That first run was rough: he has said basically all of the first 15,000 units were defective, with maybe one in five dead out of the box, and they sold every one. By the end of year one, smoke-shop distribution had G Pen in a couple thousand stores, a business he describes as starting "out of the trunk of our cars."
Action Bronson, Snoop Dogg and the collab playbook
Before celebrity vapes were a category, Folkerts met Action Bronson at Alchemist's studio in 2012. Bronson actually used the product, so the two co-branded a microG as tour merch for his run with Cypress Hill, which Folkerts calls the first artist and vape collaboration of its kind.
Snoop Dogg took it wide. Folkerts credits the Snoop deal with catapulting Grenco into the mainstream and still talks about watching Snoop gift Conan O'Brien his pen on live TV. In May 2015 the pair released the BUSH Series, a Snoop Dogg BUSH G Pro and G Slim for ground material, with the G Pro bundled with a digital download of Snoop's album.
In March 2020 Grenco signed Cypress Hill's B-Real, founder of Dr. Greenthumb's, to put G Pen buildouts inside his California dispensaries. That relationship still shows on the shelf as the Dr. Greenthumb's X G Pen Micro+.
Cookies, TYSON 2.0 and the Grateful Dead
Folkerts says Berner chose Grenco as Cookies' technology partner, and the team-up now covers Cookies editions of the Connect, Micro+ and Roam, with Lemonnade versions of the Micro+ and Connect alongside them. The Cookies Connect comes dipped in Cookies blue from battery to hemp travel case.
Mike Tyson's TYSON 2.0 landed the company's first collab of 2023, a TYSON 2.0 x G Pen Dash that went on sale March 1 for $79.95. That October the Grateful Dead released their first official cannabis vaporizer, the Grateful Dead x G Pen Dash, printed with the Steal Your Face logo on the front and a dancing skeleton on the back.
Dash II, Dash+ and the Elite II
The Dash is the palm-sized entry point. The original launched in May 2020 at $69.95 with a glass-glazed stainless steel chamber, three presets and a 950 mAh battery.
The Dash II, released in March 2026, is a full redesign: a 0.4-gram ceramic chamber that holds 33% more, fully adjustable temperature, an OLED readout, a 1,100 mAh battery and USB-C pass-through charging, at a lower $49.95 price. It is dry herb only. The G Pen Dash Review has the full breakdown.
The Dash+, launched in July 2023, adds hybrid convection and conduction heating in a full titanium chamber, an 1,800 mAh battery, a full-color display and a spiral ceramic air path in the magnetic mouthpiece.
Grenco kicked off its 10th anniversary in February 2022 with the Elite II: a patent-pending dual convection and conduction system, a ceramic chamber up to 0.5 grams, a 200 to 430°F range, a TFT screen with Wi-Fi firmware updates and a 2,100 mAh battery at $249.95. Micro II, Connect, Roam and Hyer for concentrates
G Pen bills the Micro II as the smallest portable dab rig. It pairs an all-ceramic chamber with three settings of roughly 295, 340 and 395°F, a five-second heat-up, a 1,250 mAh battery with USB-C fast charging, haptic feedback and an optional 14mm rig adapter for running it through glass.
- Connect: an e-nail alternative that snaps magnetically onto any female-jointed water piece through 10, 14 or 18mm adapters, with a ceramic element, reverse airflow and an 850 mAh battery
- Roam: a self-contained portable e-rig with a built-in borosilicate hydrotube, quartz tank and 1,300 mAh battery
- Hyer: a portable e-nail for concentrates and flower that heats from 482 to 842°F, launched in November 2022 as the first product after Grenco acquired Vapium
- Melt: a compact electric hot knife that G Pen calls the smallest electric dab tool
510 Original and the Hydout
G Pen also plays the cartridge game. The 510 Original takes its cue from the company's very first battery in 2012: breath or button activation, three voltage presets of 3.2, 3.6 and 3.8 volts, a 10-second preheat, a digital display and a 400 mAh cell with USB-C pass-through charging. At 24 by 21.1 by 56.7 millimeters and $12.95, G Pen calls it its smallest and most affordable battery ever.
The Hydout hides the cart under a magnetic mouthpiece cover, runs five voltage settings from 2.4 to 3.8 volts plus a 1.8-volt preheat, and takes most 510 carts up to 2 grams. Its 2026 run brought back translucent "clear tech" shells in red, blue, neon green, pink and purple.
Stündenglass, Vapium and the Grenco family
Grenco closed a Series A in 2019 with Serruya Private Equity and Stable Road Capital, then went shopping. In April 2020 it bought Stündenglass, the gravity-powered infuser invented by ex-Apple employee Tracey Huston, for under $1 million; Huston and one other employee joined Grenco.
A later deal for Vapium, its 2019 joint-venture partner, produced the Hyer. Folkerts was still signing Stündenglass releases as CEO in January 2025, G Pen still trades as a Grenco Science brand in 2026, and G Pen pitches several of its devices as Stündenglass-compatible. By 2022 Folkerts put G Pen's reach at every legal state and around 60 countries.
