Garcia Hand Picked is the cannabis brand the Garcia family built to honor Jerry Garcia, with multistate operator Holistic Industries running the regulated side. It reached select California dispensaries in mid-November 2020 and was selling in six states by May 2026.
On June 5, 2026, the brand started a statewide California relaunch with a Northern California crew. Solful manufactures, Kiva Sales & Service distributes, and the flower comes sun-grown from small Emerald Triangle farms.
Five years of meetings before a partner
The family took its time. Forbes reported in October 2020 that the brand was five years and many meetings in the making. The Garcias picked Holistic Industries, the company Josh Genderson founded in 2011, as the official cultivation and distribution collaborator. Holistic's chief marketing officer, Kyle Barich, likened the launch to filling a missing fourth spot on the "Mount Rushmore of Weed."
The family kept the creative calls. Forbes credited that choice to Garcia's daughters Trixie Garcia, Annabelle Garcia, Sunshine Kesey and Heather Katz, and Trixie became the family spokesperson. The brand's family page is signed by Sunshine, Trixie, Annabelle and Mountain Girl. They write that they picked everything carefully, from the genetics to the cultivators and joint rollers.
Bertha, guitar picks and glass tips
The launch ran like a tour. Bertha, a custom Airstream stocked with merchandise, music and memorabilia, set out for California dispensaries in November 2020. Holistic ran a contest to hire a brand ambassador to drive it. The family page still calls Bertha the brand's traveling ambassador.
The first California menu carried Chemdog, SFV OG and Fire OG flower, pre-roll packs with custom glass tips, and Jerry's Picks, gummies shaped like guitar picks. Forbes described recycled-paper packaging that came with matches and a glass tip bearing Jerry's handprint. The merchandise carried Jerry Garcia's original artwork.
Liberty, NorCal and the East Coast run
Massachusetts came next. Grateful Web reported the East Coast debut in April 2021 at Liberty Easthampton and Liberty Springfield, dispensaries in Holistic's portfolio, with Bertha visits on April 17 and April 20. The Massachusetts menu carried Tropicanna Haze, Shiskaberry Mango and Limefire Skunk, and Maryland followed later in 2021.
The California collection picked up hardware along the way. Super Lemon Haze, made in collaboration with NorCal Cannabis Company, took second place in the Emerald Cup's Indoor Licensed Cultivator Flower category, announced April 11, 2021. Genderson credited demand since the California launch for the national rollout.
Red Rocks country and a Colorado launch
High Times covered the Colorado launch on June 29, 2022, with craft cultivator Veritas Fine Cannabis growing Morning in Marin, Love in the Afternoon and After Midnight. The flower came in collectible glass jars, and the pre-rolls kept the handprint glass tips. High Times put the brand in more than 300 dispensaries across its markets at the time.
The family spoke to the moment. Trixie called Colorado "one of our nation's most discerning cannabis markets," and Annabelle pointed to her father's love of playing Colorado shows and Red Rocks.
Classic Flower, Double Doobies and Jerry's Picks
The national catalog runs five lines: Classic Flower, Double Doobie, Roadie Pack, Tour Pack and Jerry's Picks. Classic Flower lists six cultivars with named lineages. Under the Stars is a sativa-dominant hybrid from Kush Mints x F1 Durb x Gushers S1. Florida Kush crosses LA Kush Cake with TK BX1, and LA Baker pairs LA Kush Cake #4 with Jungle Cake.
Simien Mints comes from Animal Mints x Highland Runtz, Gold Drops from Spritzer x Apple and Bananas, and Tri-Fi from Wifi Mints x TK BX1. The Double Doobie packs two 0.5-gram joints in one pack. Jerry's Picks are 10 mg THC gummies modeled on Garcia's guitar picks.
Solful, Kiva and the 2026 California return
The California relaunch was announced May 28, 2026. Kiva Sales & Service, the distributor from the team behind Kiva Confections, handles licensed dispensaries statewide. Solful, a sun-grown specialist with operations in Santa Rosa and Humboldt County, manufactures. Launch formats are 5-pack pre-rolls, Double Doobies and whole-bud flower.
Every cultivar carries its farm's name. Canna Country Farm grows Lavender Sunrise, Greenshock Farms grows Skunk Gas and Galactic Farms grows Under the Stars. Rebel Grown supplies Rebel Sour and Double OG Chem, and Sunrise Gardens supplies Tropicanna Cherry.
The announcement also set a free Summer 2026 CA Tour: Berkeley on June 7, San Francisco on June 11, Los Angeles on June 18 and San Diego on June 25. The stops paired farmer meet-and-greets with photography from Jay Blakesberg and sets from DJ Dark Star Dan in San Francisco and Eric Krasno in Los Angeles.
Six states in 2026
The May 2026 release lists Garcia Hand Picked in California, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Oregon and Pennsylvania. In Maryland, Remedy's Columbia and Windsor Mill dispensaries carried Florida Kush in 3.5-gram jars and 5-pack pre-rolls, plus LA Baker in a 7-gram size, in August 2026. Holistic Industries remains the brand partner behind the Garcia family's picks.
