Apple Fritter is one of the genuinely well-documented cultivars on this shelf: Lumpy's Flowers' cross of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies, out of Northern California. Summit Boys present it as caviar badder, a hydrocarbon extract rather than a solventless one, and that distinction shapes everything else about the jar.
Solvent-based, and proudly so
Summit Boys are a legacy California concentrate producer operating since 2016, originally under Proposition 215. They are best known as The Original White Caviar, and the catalogue runs caviar badder, caviar crumble, caviar sugar, live resin diamonds, crystalline and sauce.
This is a hydrocarbon house, not a solventless one. That is not a knock. Hydrocarbon extraction is a different craft with genuinely different strengths, particularly in how completely it captures the lighter aromatic fractions that ice-water separation can leave behind.
The quality questions are simply different from a rosin's. Purge completeness and residual solvent testing matter here in a way they do not for a pressed product, and a good hydrocarbon house builds its reputation on exactly those details.
The record behind the name
Summit Boys took 14 awards at the 2019 Bay Area Cannabis Cup, including Best Product and Hybrid Concentrate for the Caviar. Those results belong to Summit Boys as a producer, and they are the reason the caviar line carries the weight it does.
Fourteen placements at a single event is an unusual haul. It reflects a house that had already spent years refining one technique rather than chasing whatever format was selling that season.
Where the cultivar comes from
Apple Fritter comes from Lumpy's Flowers in Northern California, crossing Sour Apple with Animal Cookies. It also circulates as the Lumpy's Cut, which is how growers distinguish the original selection.
Sour Apple supplies the tart orchard-fruit front; Animal Cookies brings the dough, the density and the heavier back half. Together they produce the baked-apple-and-sugar character the name promises, which is rarer than it sounds in a category full of flavour names that do not deliver.
Fresh Baked, the Long Beach flower brand Summit Boys has collaborated with, is specifically known for its Apple Fritter and Cherry Fritter, which is part of why this cultivar keeps appearing in Southern California extract rooms.
What caviar badder actually is
Badder is a texture: extract whipped or agitated through a low-heat purge until it turns opaque and spreadable. Crumble is the same material purged longer and left alone. Sugar is what happens when cannabinoids crystallise through it.
Caryophyllene leads the terpene panel here, with limonene and pinene behind it. That combination puts pepper and spice underneath the apple rather than letting the fruit float on its own.
Handling it
Badder stays workable at room temperature, which makes it forgiving to portion, but the apple note is the first thing heat removes. Keep the jar cold between sessions and run it low, and the fruit stays where the extractor put it.
Where to go next
The flower side of this cultivar has its own entry in the Apple Fritter strain profile. For another Summit Boys collaboration jar, Oreo Mac caviar badder shows the same technique on a different cut, and the wider shelf sits in the High Rise concentrate library.
