Cherry Fritter badder is a solvent-extracted concentrate from Summit Boys, sold as Cherry Fritter Caviar Batter. The cultivar crosses Cherry Pie with Apple Fritter, and in flower form it is a longtime staple of the California brand Fresh Baked.
Summit Boys has worked in California concentrates since 2016. Its White Caviar products are what the brand is known for, and the Caviar Batter name ties Cherry Fritter to that line.
Two dessert parents with deep roots
Cherry Pie comes from Granddaddy Purple and F1 Durb. Leafly lists it as a hybrid that flowers in 7–9 weeks, though some phenotypes run 10–12 weeks. It trains well as a multi-branched plant or in a sea of green setup and forms dense buds with purple undertones.
Apple Fritter was put out by Lumpy's Flowers as a cross of Sour Apple and Animal Cookies. It is a true hybrid that flowers in 8–9 weeks, grows to average height and is rated moderately difficult with a medium yield.
Leafly files Cherry Fritter itself as a hybrid bred by an unnamed breeder and notes it is not widely available. The abbreviation CFr turns up on menus.
Fresh Baked and the flower side
Fresh Baked has kept Cherry Fritter flower in rotation for years. One OG Nation review says the strain often goes hand in hand with any mention of the brand.
That same review graded a Fresh Baked eighth at A-minus, with 42% total cannabinoids and willow green leaves wrapped in stacks of orange pistils. The reviewer compared it favorably to Fig Farms flower and called the profile complex and layered.
Summit Boys and the Caviar Batter line
Summit Boys started operating in 2016 under Proposition 215. At the 2019 Bay Area Cannabis Cup, Summit Boys Caviar placed third for Best Product. Collaborations with Pacific Reserve and Noble Farms took second and third for Best Hybrid Concentrate.
A 2020 memorandum of understanding set up TransCanna's Lyfted Farms to supply flower to Summit Boys for processing. In August 2021, Grapefruit USA bought a 51% stake in Summit Boys, Inc. Its filings list sugar, crumble, badder, live resin, diamonds, budder, sauce and caviar among the brand's extracts.
Leafly's product listing places Cherry Fritter Caviar Batter in the solvent concentrate category. Summit Boys runs other cultivars through the same soft formats, including GMO badder from the Mamiko Seeds Chem Cookies line.
How batter gets its texture
Batter, also spelled badder, is part of the wax family. Leafly describes wax as an extract named for its soft, malleable texture and treats badder, butter and honeycomb as cosmetic variations on the same idea.
Most wax comes from butane or hydrocarbon extraction. The solvent is pushed through contained plant material and strips out cannabinoids and other compounds. When the resulting oil is agitated during refinement, it turns opaque and takes on the soft body the name describes.
