Beyond Blueberry is a Wonderbrett live badder, extracted from a selection the company pulled out of a Sundae Driver line. The terpene panel Wonderbrett publishes for it leads with pinene, then caryophyllene, ocimene and linalool — a pine-forward reading for a berry name, and the reason it does not taste like anything else in the case.
Brett Feldman's long road to a licence
Brett Feldman spent the late 1990s and early 2000s supplying flower in Los Angeles through the Proposition 215 years, building a reputation on OG Kush at a time when reputation was the only currency available. He formalised the company as Wonderbrett in 2014 to put that work in front of a legal market.
Cultivation runs out of a purpose-built Long Beach facility with dozens of separate grow rooms, and the company opened its own Los Angeles retail store in 2021. The full catalog lives on the Wonderbrett brand page.
Terpenes ahead of test numbers
Feldman has been public about the trade-off he makes. He selects for terpene expression rather than chasing the highest potency figure, on the view that the loudest test results rarely win a blind taste comparison.
That philosophy shapes the whole release calendar. Wonderbrett aims to put out a new selection roughly every three months, which means continuous pheno-hunting rather than a fixed menu — and it means the extraction side has fresh material to work from.
What a live badder actually is
The name carries two separate claims. Live means the starting material went into the freezer at or near harvest instead of onto a drying rack, so the volatile compounds that normally evaporate during a cure stay in the plant.
Badder is the finish, not the input. The extract is whipped or agitated through a low-heat purge until it turns opaque and spreadable. The two are independent — live material can finish as sauce, sugar or diamonds, and badder can be made from cured flower.
Why a pine-led berry reads strange
Pinene at the front of a panel usually shows up in kush and fuel cultivars, not in fruit. Here it sits over a sweet, berry-leaning base, and the result is brighter and sharper than the name suggests before the caryophyllene weight arrives underneath.
Linalool at the back rounds the finish. It is an unusual stack, and it is a good argument for why terpene order tells you more about a jar than a category label does.
Beyond Blueberry 2.0 is a different plant
Wonderbrett later released Beyond Blueberry 2.0, built from Blueberry Purps and Wifi OG through the in-house Byrd Seed Genetics program. It was presented as a successor rather than a re-release, and the two should not be read as the same cultivar on a menu.
Neither one descends from the classic Blueberry that DJ Short built. The shared word is a flavour reference, not a family tree.
Where it sits in the Wonderbrett case
Against the rest of the line, this is the odd one out. Pink Picasso is the connoisseur pick and the loudest of the bunch. Orange Sunset is the easy entry point and the citrus anchor. Strawberry Bliss takes the fruit direction straight.
Beyond Blueberry goes sideways instead, which is exactly what makes it worth a slot in the rotation for anyone who already knows the house style.
