Grapes of Wrath is a hybrid from Wonderbrett, the Long Beach flower company that has marketed premium California cannabis since 1998. It crosses Grape Pie with Jet Fuel Gelato. Compound Genetics made the seeds, and Wonderbrett ran the phenotype hunt that picked the keeper.
The cut now sits in Wonderbrett's genetics library, which the company describes as decades in the making. It sells in California as indoor flower, smalls and pre-rolls, with a grape flavor that finishes on graham cracker.
Compound seeds, a Wonderbrett pheno hunt
Wonderbrett's own product listing on Weedmaps spells out the split. The seeds came from Compound Genetics, and Wonderbrett popped them and hunted for the phenotype worth keeping. The listing names the lineage as Grape Pie × Jet Fuel Gelato and the terpenes as limonene, linalool, humulene and caryophyllene.
The Highest Critic, a Long Beach reviewer, covered the flower on January 2, 2023. The review credits Compound Genetics as breeder and Wonderbrett as grower, and calls it an indica-dominant hybrid in the branded-exotic lane. It lists limonene as the lead terpene and gave the flower an 8 out of 10.
Grape Pie and Jet Fuel Gelato behind the cross
Grape Pie is the purple side of the family. Leafly credits it to Gage Green Group as a cross of Cherry Pie and Grape Stomper. It is an indica-leaning hybrid known for purple coloring, heavy trichome coverage and a sour grape character drawn from Grape Stomper.
Jet Fuel Gelato is a Compound Genetics line. Leafly lists it as a cross of High Octane and Jet Fuel, averaging 24% THC with limonene as its dominant terpene.
The same parent turns up across other Compound releases. First Class Funk pairs GMO Cookies with Jet Fuel Gelato. Ice Cream Man crosses it with Legend Orange Apricot and grows tall plants with dense, orange-haired buds.
What the flower looks like on paper
Leafly classifies Grapes of Wrath as a hybrid and averages it at 26% THC and 1% CBG. Its dominant terpene there is myrcene, followed by limonene and linalool. Users on Leafly tag it with tingly and euphoric effects, and some mention a strong appetite afterward.
The Highest Critic describes a calming effect, a heavily mellow mind and a buzzing finish. The reviewer compared its density to older dense cuts such as Red Bull and Grape Octane. Wonderbrett itself pitches the effect as smooth, uplifting and euphoric.
Weedmaps also carries a Wonderbrett Grapes of Wrath pre-roll. The California delivery service Flower Company has sold a 3.5 g bag of indoor Grapes of Wrath smalls, listing humulene, limonene and linalool as its terpenes and describing a body buzz with a euphoric lift.
Wonderbrett, from Dr. Dre's 2001 to Long Beach
Brett Feldman co-founded Wonderbrett, and the company leans hard on its OG Kush history. Its site says Dr. Dre's album 2001 was recorded with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Xzibit and Brett's OG Kush in the studio.
Today the flower comes out of an indoor cultivation facility in Long Beach, which Wonderbrett calls one of the largest in North America. The company says the building was engineered for small-batch premium production at scale.
Wonderbrett also runs a retail shop on North La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles and announced a New Jersey expansion for summer 2025. Grapes of Wrath remains listed as a California release.
