Wonderbrett and the original OG Kush
Wonderbrett's story starts with OG Kush. In the summer of 1997, co-founder Brett Feldman was gifted a cut of the original OG Kush. By 1999 he was supplying flower to major recording artists, and the brand says Dr. Dre's album 2001 was recorded with that strain in the studio.
Feldman built the company with Cameron Damwijk, and the brand now markets itself as premium California cannabis since 1998. Its headquarters sit in Long Beach, where Wonderbrett runs a large cultivation facility with custom-designed irrigation built for small-batch production at scale.
Orange Banana v1 meets OZ Kush
On Weedmaps, Wonderbrett lists the Orange Sunset lineage as its own Orange Banana v1 crossed with OZ Kush. Orange Banana is one of Wonderbrett's orange-forward lines; its current flower version pairs Orange Banana v1 with OZ Kush Cookies & Cream.
OZ Kush brings a deeper pedigree. Leafly lists it as OG Eddy Lepp × Zkittlez, bred by 3rd Gen Family Farms and Terp Hogz. That puts an OG line and a Zkittlez line behind one parent, with Wonderbrett's orange selection on the other.
The result is a cross built entirely around Wonderbrett's working parent stock. Orange Banana v1 also sits behind Wonderbrett's Orange Banana flower, so Orange Sunset and that release share a parent.
Fresh-frozen extraction and a badder finish
Live resin starts with fresh-frozen plant material instead of dried and cured flower. Extractors run it with hydrocarbon solvents, usually butane or a butane and propane blend. Weedmaps traces the method to William "Kind Bill" Fenger, who began developing the idea in Colorado around 2010.
The first working batch came in 2013, when Fenger and Jason "Giddy Up" Emo used an EmoTek Labs unit at A Cut Above in Colorado Springs. They ran flash-frozen whole plants and named both the process and the product live resin.
