The Carta 2 at a glance
The Carta 2 is Focus V's second-generation portable e-rig: a battery-powered dab device with a glass top, a directional D-PAD carb cap, an OLED screen and app control. It runs concentrates out of the box and takes dry herb with an optional atomizer, so one base covers both lanes without a torch or a banger.
It is also a device with an end date. Focus V says it sunset the Carta 2 after July 2025 as part of a settlement, and Focus V no longer lists it on its store. Remaining retailer stock and editions must be verified individually; Focus V points buyers to the Carta Sport as the next step in the line.
Heat, battery and session control
A 2000mAh battery powers the rig. The concentrate range runs from 365°F to 635°F, and the dry herb range runs from 275°F to 500°F once the herb atomizer is installed. Sessions last up to 60 seconds, which gives low-temp dabs time to finish without babysitting the button.
Operation is button-activated. Press to start a heat cycle and the OLED display shows temperature, battery and session time. Haptic feedback and an LED indicator light add physical and visual cues, so you can track the rig without staring at the screen.
If you are still working out where your concentrates land on that dial, the low-temp vs. high-temp dab guide breaks down how the numbers change a session, and the Carta 2's wide range gives plenty of room to test both ends.
The 360° Intelli-Core atomizer
The heart of the Carta 2 is the 360° Intelli-Core atomizer. Instead of heating from a single plate at the bottom, it wraps heat around the chamber, so the whole load warms together. The oil version ships in the box; an Intelli-Core MAX comes in the bundle edition, and a separate atomizer handles dry herb.
Focus V has said the Intelli-Core atomizer stays available for existing Carta 2 owners after the sunset. That matters for a device that is no longer made: atomizers are the part that wears out first, and a steady supply of replacements keeps an older rig in rotation instead of in a drawer.
App control and charging
The Carta 2 connects to Focus V's V Browser App. From your phone you can build and save custom temperature profiles, set session length, change LED colors and check device stats, which turns the stock presets into a starting point instead of a ceiling.
Focus V has stated the Carta 2 will keep getting support through the V Browser App after the sunset, so the smart features don't disappear with the product page.
Charging comes three ways. There is USB-C for a standard cable, wireless charging for a pad on the desk, and pass-through charging, which means you can keep dabbing while the rig is plugged in. For home sessions that last longer than one battery, pass-through is the feature that gets used most.
Build, size and what's in the box
The chassis is a plastic polymer with a rubberized coating. Its rubberized finish changes how the device feels in the hand; weight and grip depend on the particular comparison and user. The glass top press-fits into place, and the D-PAD carb cap lets you steer airflow by turning it.
The rig measures 184mm by 67mm. That is portable in the backpack sense rather than the pocket sense, which is why Focus V packs a carrying bag with room for the rig and its tools.
The standard and D-PAD Edition boxes include the Carta 2 rig, the Intelli-Core atomizer for oil, the D-PAD carb cap, an atomizer sleeve, the carrying bag, a silicone stopper, a dab tool and a USB-C cable. The bundle edition adds the Intelli-Core MAX and Focus V's Saber hot knife.
Buying a Carta 2 after the sunset
Because Focus V no longer sells the Carta 2 directly, buying one now means going through a retailer with stock left. Retailer availability changes, so confirm the exact variant before ordering.
The good news for owners is that Focus V says it will keep honoring Carta 2 warranties and support services after the sunset. Carta 2 glass tops also fit the Carta Sport, so a glass collection built around the older rig carries over if you upgrade.
Where it sits in the Focus V lineup
The Carta 2 is an older device alongside newer Focus V hardware. The Carta Sport is a newer model and shares the glass-top ecosystem. Focus V also lists the CARTA 3; compare its separate compatibility details before buying. The Focus V AERIS is the brand's smart e-rig in a different shape, built around the same app-first idea of saving your settings and running them on repeat.
What made the Carta 2 a staple is the combination: an all-around atomizer, dry herb capability, app control and three ways to charge in one rig. The Carta 2 review covers buyer fit and how it stacks up against other portables.
If you already own one, the path forward is simple: keep spare Intelli-Core atomizers on hand, clean the glass top after every few sessions, and keep the app updated. If you are shopping fresh, weigh a remaining Carta 2 against a new Carta Sport, since the Sport is the one Focus V is building around now.
What the sunset means in practice
Focus V's own statement sets out the CARTA 2's status. It says the device was sunset after July 2025 as part of a settlement, while warranties, support services, Intelli-Core atomizer supply, and V Browser App support continue for owners. A device can therefore be absent from the maker's new-device store while remaining serviceable. That distinction matters to a buyer comparing a discounted remaining unit against the current CARTA Sport. “Sunset” does not prove that a particular retailer's sealed stock is defective, but it also does not promise new colorways or unlimited inventory.
Check the exact model and edition on a retailer page. A standard CARTA 2, D-PAD Edition, and bundle may show different caps or accessories. Ask whether the item is new, open box, or refurbished; confirm the seller's return rules, manufacturer warranty eligibility, and the serial-number registration path. Product photography can show an optional atomizer or glass top that is not in a given box. An older review may cover a different kit. Go by the exact retailer listing for included hardware.
The Focus V sunset and support statement is the most reliable starting point. Before buying from any retailer, match the variant, price, stock, and warranty terms.
Atomizer care and the replacement path
The Intelli-Core atomizer is a replaceable working part, not a lifetime component. Focus V says both Intelli-Core and Intelli-Core MAX will remain available for CARTA 2 owners, with cross-device compatibility in its lineup. That is encouraging for long-term maintenance, but a particular atomizer version and color may still go out of stock. Keep the atomizer connection clean and dry, avoid forcing threads or contacts, and follow the maker's cleaning instructions rather than soaking a powered base.
After a concentrate session, wait for a safe cleaning temperature, then remove residue with an appropriate swab. Do not scrape the chamber hard with a metal tool. If performance becomes uneven, compare battery level, atomizer seating, chamber condition, and glass airflow before assuming the electronics have failed. A dry-herb atomizer, where offered, is a separate purchase and has a different loading and cleaning routine. A buyer interested solely in flower should compare dedicated dry-herb devices before assuming an optional attachment is the best fit.
Glass, airflow, and travel
Focus V says CARTA 2 glass tops are compatible with the CARTA Sport. This creates a useful migration path for someone who already owns custom glass. It does not mean the entire base, atomizer, cap, or bag is interchangeable. Check part numbers and fit before moving any accessory between generations. Press-fit glass should be installed with even pressure and removed only after the device cools. A cracked top, chipped seal surface, or poorly seated joint can change draw resistance and create a spill risk.
Water level influences the experience. Fill only to the maker's guidance and test the draw before loading material. Too much water can splash toward an airway; too little reduces filtration. Empty the glass before placing the rig in its carrying bag. Keep the electronic base away from wash water and let all parts dry fully before use. The CARTA 2 is travel-friendly compared with a torch, but its glass top, charger, and atomizer still need protected space.
App support and a realistic buying comparison
Focus V explicitly commits to continuing CARTA 2 support through its V Browser App. Software support is valuable for saved profiles and updates, although phone operating systems and browser permissions can change. Check the current app instructions on your actual phone before relying on a feature shown in an old tutorial. Learn the physical device controls as well so an app connection issue does not interrupt a session or cause an accidental heat cycle.
The strongest reason to choose a remaining CARTA 2 is a verifiable offer on a kit and finish you specifically want, with acceptable support terms. The strongest reason to choose the CARTA Sport is that it is the current production line. A lower sticker price for sunset stock may still be poor value if return rights are weak or the exact accessories are missing. Compare total cost, including spare atomizers, shipping, tax, and replacement glass, rather than comparing device headlines alone.
For an existing owner, the relevant question is less whether the model is current and more whether the parts and support you need remain obtainable. Save purchase records, register the device if applicable, and use Focus V's support channels for fault diagnosis. Focus V's written sunset statement covers continued warranties, atomizers, software, and glass-top compatibility. Those commitments do not extend to a specific retailer's inventory or the lifespan of an individual battery.
