Where It Comes From
Alien Labs launched out of Sacramento in 2014 under grower Ted Lidie, building a reputation on tightly controlled cultivation and hand-picked cuts rather than volume. Seed Junky Genetics, founded the same year by JBeezy, supplied the other half of the cross and the dessert-gas genetics — Animal Mints, Wedding Cake, Kush Mints — that reshaped California menus through the back half of the 2010s. Alien Mints is one of the collaborations that came out of that partnership.
The Cross
This version of Alien Mints is an Animal Mints backcross, written Animal Mints x Animal Mints — the line bred back into itself to lock in Animal Mints' cookie-dough-and-mint signature rather than introduce new traits. Animal Mints itself traces to Animal Cookies x SinMint Cookies, concentrating the resin and mint character that also stands behind Wedding Cake and Kush Mints. It's a finished-flower cultivar first: Alien Labs built its name on cuts like this rather than seed releases.
Watch the label. A cross of Alien Cookies x Kush Mints has circulated under the same Alien Mints name, and so has an unrelated Alien OG x GSC pairing. Same words on the jar, different plants entirely — the backcross above is the one this profile covers.
