Alien OG is The Cali Connection's F1 hybrid of Alien Kush and Tahoe OG Kush. The strain first circulated as a clone in California's Bay Area before the Los Angeles seed company made it available in seed form. Today it sells as a six-pack of feminized seeds with a 60–65-day flowering estimate.
The breeder frames the cross simply: Afghani strength from Alien Kush, paired with the bigger yields and faster finish of Tahoe OG Kush.
Alien Kush brings the Afghani backbone
Alien Kush is an indica cross of LVPK and Alien Dawg that originated in California. The Cali Connection credits it with the Afghani strength in Alien OG, the half of the cross that anchors its indica character.
The Alien Dawg side ties Alien OG to a wider family of California cuts. Alien Cookies, from Jaws Gear Genetics, crosses GSC with Aliendawg, making it a cousin through that shared parent. The Cali Connection also worked the line directly, taking 2nd place for Best Indica with Alien Dawg V2 at the 2014 High Times Medical Cup in Detroit.
Tahoe OG Kush and a string of cup wins
Tahoe OG is a phenotype of OG Kush and one of the clone-only cuts The Cali Connection set out to preserve. The company's Heritage Line lists it alongside SFV OG, Pre-98 Bubba Kush and Larry OG, all once available only as cuttings.
Tahoe genetics earned the breeder its first run of strain trophies. At the 2011 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, Tahoe OG Kush took 1st place for Best Hash and Tahoe OG took 3rd for Best Indica. In 2013, Veganic Tahoe OG placed 2nd for Best Hybrid at the High Times Medical Cup in Los Angeles. Those wins belong to the Tahoe parent, not Alien OG itself.
Swerve and the clone-to-seed mission
Edward "Swerve" Clarizio opened The Cali Connection in Los Angeles in 2008. Around 2003–2004 he was already supplying rare elite cultivars to the city's cannabis community. The company's stated mission was to put California's clone-only heritage into stable, true-breeding seed form.
Alien OG fits that brief closely. It takes a hybrid first passed around as a Bay Area clone and offers it as stable feminized seed. The company says its genetics have since collected more than 42 Cannabis Cup awards at events in Amsterdam, San Francisco, Denver and Michigan, starting in 2011.
The catalog now runs in three tiers: the Heritage Line of clone-based genetics, the Gold Line of modern hybrid selections, and Private Breeder Seeds from independent California breeders.
Growing Alien OG from feminized seed
The Cali Connection rates Alien OG at 60–65 days of flowering, with some phenotypes finishing as early as 58 days. Yield is listed as medium. That is a shorter run than Fire OG, the company's Raskal's OG Kush × SFV OG Kush hybrid, which needs 9–10 weeks.
The faster finish comes from the Tahoe side, which the breeder chose for quicker flowering and larger harvests. Because the seeds are feminized, growers can skip sexing and fill a room with females from the start. Strain databases list it at around 19% THC, with negligible CBD.
Where Tahoe OG shows up next
Tahoe OG keeps appearing in newer crosses. White Tahoe Cookies combines The White, Tahoe OG and a Girl Scout Cookies cut, an indica line that shares its Tahoe OG parent with Alien OG.
Alien OG's own effects are described by the breeder as a heavy body feel with a cerebral lift. It remains on sale in the company's current seed catalog, a direct link between Bay Area clone culture and Swerve's Los Angeles seed program.
