Banana OG is OrgnKid’s hybrid of an OG Kush female and a banana-selected male found within a mixed Sagarmatha seed lot labeled “60/40.” That wording is more accurate than the familiar shortcut “Banana × OG.” The fruit side was not a formal parent cultivar called Banana. It came from a particular male selected out of a broad seed population and then crossed into OrgnKid’s OG Kush clone.
OrgnKid’s seed-lot discovery
OrgnKid acquired a large group of Sagarmatha seeds sold under the “60/40” label. The population contained mixed material rather than one uniform cultivar. After growing hundreds of plants, he found a small group with a pronounced banana character and selected a male from that material for breeding.
The selected male was crossed to OrgnKid’s OG Kush female. He then worked through the offspring and kept the plant that became Banana OG. Some of the original F1 seed stock also moved beyond his garden, helping the name spread. The cultivar’s identity rests on this selection sequence as much as it does on the two sides of the cross.
Why the parent wording matters
OG Kush × banana-selected Sagarmatha “60/40” male preserves the known roles of both parents. It credits the OG Kush female, identifies the mixed seed population behind the male, and avoids inventing a cultivar that did not exist as a named parent. Banana Fruz follows a separate Seed Junky lineage built from Pineapple Fruz × Wild Cherry. Strawberry Banana concentrate comes from another family centered on Crockett’s Banana Kush and Strawberry Bubble Gum. Shared fruit language does not establish shared direct ancestry.
