Gage Green Genetics built Blackberry Pie from cuts left by the late breeder Jojorizo, whose Blackberry Widow supplies the strain's namesake fruit. Jojorizo bred both parent lines himself, and the family tree reaches back into 1990s American genetics rather than the modern California dessert lineage Blackberry Pie sometimes gets lumped in with. It ships as a regular-seed release, never offered feminized, which places it in an earlier era of breeding and an earlier era of grower.
The Cross
The direct pairing is Jojorizo's Blackberry Widow crossed with his own Crystal Locomotive. Blackberry Widow is a '98 Aloha White Widow phenotype crossed onto Nebu's Blackberry, which itself carries The Black and Afghani — the source of the deep purple color and dark fruit character. Crystal Locomotive pairs Trainwreck with that same '98 Aloha White Widow line, and it's the half that brings the resin and the real strength.
Between the two parents, Blackberry Pie inherits White Widow twice over plus a Trainwreck sativa charge, which is why it carries more lift than a typical purple indica. Watch for the name on unrelated cuts built from Gelato, Animal Mints, or Cookies genetics — those aren't this plant, whatever the label claims.
The flower runs deep purple with pale, heavy trichome coverage and orange pistils, and it's an easy, vigorous grower with a roughly two-month flowering window indoors or out.
