Peanut Butter Breath is a hybrid bred by Thug Pug Genetics, the Michigan breeding project run by a breeder known as Gromer. It crosses Do-Si-Dos with the Studly Spewright selection of Mendo Breath F2, a pairing now repeated across seed catalogs and strain databases.
The cut built a competition record early. Peanut Butter Breath placed third in the Mixed Light Greenhouse category at the 2018 Emerald Cup, then took first place for indica at the 2019 Karma Cup. At the 2019 Emerald Cup, a Peanut Butter Breath 104u water hash from Papa's Select, grown by Humboldt Kine Farms, took second in Ice Water Hash.
Do-Si-Dos meets the Studly Spewright Mendo Breath
Do-Si-Dos brings the Cookies side of the family. Seedfinder traces it to OGKB × Face/Off OG BX1, while Weedmaps describes the same parent as a GSC and Face Off OG descendant.
The other half is a specific plant rather than a generic cut. Mendo Breath F2 came from selected Mendo Breath F1 phenotypes crossed together, and Thug Pug picked a male from that generation called Studly Spewright. Gromer used the same Mendo Breath F2 selection in Meat Breath and Garlic Breath.
Thug Pug built its reputation on large phenotype hunts. Hundreds of plants get grown out and judged on potency, terpene profile, structure, pathogen resistance and yield before any parent stock is kept. Unicorn Poop is another well-known result of that process, and the company has distributed its seeds globally through SeedsHereNow for more than four years.
A resin-heavy plant that asks for a careful grower
Peanut Butter Breath does not come easy. Leafly rates it hard to grow, with medium yields and short-to-medium height, especially in soil. Hendrx Farm calls the cultivar temperature sensitive with low-to-moderate yields, and Jerry Savage of Savage Farms says it can be challenging in the garden.
Structure is part of the challenge. 808 Genetics notes the plant roughly doubles in height after the flip to flower, with vertical branching and moderate internode spacing. Seedfinder describes the same split personality: sativa-like stretch and long branches, but thick, dense indica-style buds.
Flowering estimates vary by source and grower. Leafly lists 8–9 weeks, Hendrx Farm runs it around 70 days indoors, and 808 Genetics quotes 10–11 weeks. Outdoors, Hendrx harvests from late October into early November. Autoflower versions finish in about 8–9 weeks from seed.
The finished flower is easy to spot. Weedmaps describes dense green buds with occasional purple patches, red-orange hairs and a heavy crystal coat. 808 Genetics points to a high bract-to-leaf ratio and resin heads that make it a strong choice for washing and extraction.
Terpenes, potency and the high
Hendrx Farm tested its run at 29–31% THC, with CBG between 0.7% and 1.6%. Weedmaps lists a wider 19–28% THC range across products. Hendrx reports limonene and beta-caryophyllene in a near 1:1 ratio, backed by humulene, myrcene and bisabolol, while Leafly names limonene, caryophyllene and pinene as the leading terpenes.
The flavor lives up to the name: nutty and earthy, with a woody finish. Weedmaps users describe an opening lift in mood before a heavier body high, often with the giggles and a serious appetite. Leafly reviewers most often report feeling relaxed, sleepy and hungry.
Classification depends on who is growing it. Hendrx Farm calls it an indica-dominant hybrid, 808 Genetics treats it as a strong indica hybrid, and Seedfinder lists it as balanced. Weedmaps and Leafly both file it simply as a hybrid.
From Mephisto autos to Maven's Brûlée
Peanut Butter Breath has become serious breeding stock. Seedfinder lists more than 180 direct descendants, including Breath Stank, Bubble Butter Breath and Big Apple. Leafly adds Gorilla Butter and Butterstuff to the family. 808 Genetics brought the cultivar into its own collection in 2020.
Mephisto Genetics first ran Peanut Butter Breath in 2018 and came away impressed by its size and vigor. That work led to Butters' Breath F5, an autoflower cross of Peanut Butter Breath and Creme de la Chem that dropped on April 13, 2026.
In California, Maven Genetics crossed Peanut Butter Breath with Garlic Butter to make Brûlée, released as a pre-roll five-pack. Maven also went back to the Do-Si-Dos side for Black Cherry Blossom, a cross with its own Sherb Mints.
The resin side keeps turning up too. Punch Extracts has listed Peanut Butter Breath on Weedmaps as a Gold Tier live rosin cold cure badder, a Silver Tier half-and-half and a Tier 3 cold cure badder.
