Golden Lemon, also sold as Golden Lemons, is a DNA Genetics hybrid that crosses Kosher Kush with Lemon Skunk. Both parents are DNA's own award winners, so the cross joins two of the Amsterdam seed company's signature lines in one F1.
Seed catalogs rate it around 60% indica and 40% sativa, with dense, resin-coated buds and trichomes that hash makers find easy to separate. The flavor runs lemon over a Kush base.
DNA Genetics, from California to Amsterdam
DNA Genetics takes its name from its co-founders, Don and Aaron, whose initials give the company its D and A. The pair left California for Amsterdam in 2003 with little money and opened their first shop there in 2004.
The trophies came fast. LA Confidential placed third for indica at the 2004 Cannabis Cup, and Martian Mean Green won the 2005 sativa category. High Times inducted DNA into its Seedbank Hall of Fame in 2009. The company now counts more than 200 awards, with Chocolope and Tangie among its other well-known lines.
Kosher Kush, the clone-only mother
Kosher Kush started in Los Angeles as a clone-only OG Kush cut, and DNA Genetics later released it in seed form. Leafly lists it as an indica averaging 21% THC and also names it Kosher OG.
It is one of DNA's most decorated plants. DNA lists a first place for indica at the 2011 High Times Cannabis Cup. Leafly adds Best Indica wins in 2010 and 2011, plus Best Strain in 2011. That OG side brings the density and resin that Golden Lemon carries.
Lemon Skunk and its lemon family
Lemon Skunk came from two Skunk phenotypes hand-picked by DNA's breeders. Leafly calls it a sativa-dominant hybrid that averages 19% THC, with myrcene, caryophyllene and limonene as its main terpenes. It took first place at Spannabis in Barcelona in 2008.
The line has a long reach. Leafly counts Super Lemon Haze and Lemon Haze among its offspring. A separate lemon branch, Lemon OG, crosses the Las Vegas Lemon Skunk with The OG #18.
Growing Golden Lemons from seed
DNA sells Golden Lemons as feminized seed. Dinafem's catalog puts indoor flowering at 56–63 days and indoor yields at 450–500 g/m². Outdoors, it quotes 600–800 g per plant, with harvest in late September or early October.
True North Seedbank lists an 8–9 week flower and yields of 450–550 g/m². It rates the plant mostly indica and suitable for indoor rooms, greenhouses and outdoor gardens.
Weedmaps matches the 56–63 day window and notes a tall plant with high, resinous yields. It flags the flowers as well suited to concentrate extraction, which fits the plant's heavy trichome coverage.
Golden Lemon on shelves and in the numbers
Leafly averages Golden Lemon at 22% THC and 1% CBG. Its dominant terpene there is terpinolene, followed by myrcene and caryophyllene. Users tag it as relaxed, tingly and happy, and Leafly describes a bright, euphoric start that turns sedating with heavier use. Leafly also rates it 4.5 out of 5 across 132 ratings.
The cross travels well. In Hawaii, Big Island Grown's Waimea dispensary has stocked Golden Lemons under its Farmer's Choice line, a hand-selected tier from each harvest. That batch tested at 20.34% THC and showed frosty, lime green buds, with linalool, myrcene and humulene leading the terpenes.
