Headbanger is a sativa-dominant hybrid from Karma Genetics, the European breeder behind the Biker Kush line. It crosses Karma's own Sour Diesel K.G. cut with Biker Kush V1 and is sold only as regular seed.
It also carries a long trophy record, placing at the 2013 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, then took first place overall at the 2015 Secret Cup in Barcelona.
Sour Diesel on a Biker Kush frame
Karma built Headbanger by pairing the K.G. cut of Sour Diesel with Biker Kush V1. The breeder files it under its Biker Kush line and calls the result an extremely pungent OG hybrid with sour, funky flavors.
Biker Kush is the OG anchor of that line. Karma lists it as HA-OG × Biker Kush v1, a very prolific hybrid with dense, rock hard buds and tops heavy enough to need staking.
The Sour Diesel side pushes Headbanger toward sativa. Leafly classifies it as a sativa-dominant hybrid and credits the dense, conic bud structure to its Kush genetics. SeedFinder calls it mostly sativa and notes that it was never released as feminized seed.
A trophy run from Amsterdam to Barcelona
SeedFinder records a third-place finish in the sativa category at the 2013 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam. Weedmaps lists prizes at that 2013 Cannabis Cup and at the Secret Cup in Barcelona.
Karma's own award list fills in the 2015 season. Headbanger won first place overall at the 2015 Secret Cup in Barcelona. It also took second place in the sativa category at the 2015 IC420 Growers Cup.
The IC420 results kept coming, and SeedFinder logs a first place in the sativa category at the 2016 IC420 Growers Cup, entered by a team called Boys from the South.
Headbanger sits in a trophy case that also holds White OG V2.0, Karma's OG and OG Kush S1. Each won first place at a European cup between 2014 and 2015.
Growing Headbanger
Karma rates Headbanger at 10–11 weeks of flowering, while Leafly puts the window at 10–12 weeks.
The breeder describes big yielding plants with a dense bud structure. Karma also points to complex terpene profiles and heavy trichome production, and it pitches Headbanger as an ideal strain for concentrates and extracts.
Leafly lists average THC at 22% and names caryophyllene as the dominant terpene. Because the seeds are regular, growers get both male and female plants, which gives breeders room to make their own crosses.
SeedFinder counts 59 hybrid descendants of Headbanger in its database. Karma's shop lists a pack of Headbanger seeds at €80, currently out of stock.
A creeper named for the mosh pit
The name is not subtle, and Weedmaps describes Headbanger as a creeper whose effects build slowly and compares it to headbangers at a thrash metal concert. Leafly calls the high uplifting and euphoric.
Headbanger has a close relative in the same catalog. Headstash also uses Biker Kush as a parent but leans indica, having won Best Indica at the 2015 Amsterdam Elite Cup. Together the two show how far the Biker Kush line can swing depending on the partner.
