Headstash is an indica-dominant hybrid bred by Karma Genetics, the European seed company behind the Biker Kush line. It crosses Karma's Pre16 Headstash with Biker Kush, stacking Girl Scout Cookies, Cherrie Pie and KarmaRado OG under a heavy OG Kush influence.
The cross took first prize in the Best Indica category at the 2015 Amsterdam Elite Cup. In Michigan, Detroit's Hytek grows Headstash indoors and sells it under its own label.
From Pre16 Headstash to a Biker Kush cross
Headstash started as a three-way build. Karma crossed Girl Scout Cookies with Cannarado's Cherrie Pie, then brought in a KarmaRado OG male. That selection became Pre16 Headstash.
Karma then crossed Pre16 Headstash with Biker Kush, its flagship line, to add more OG Kush influence. Seed sellers describe the finished Headstash as a mostly indica cultivar with a very complex genetic profile.
Biker Kush carries the OG half. Karma lists it as HA-OG × Biker Kush v1, a regular-seed hybrid that flowers in 10–11 weeks. The breeder calls the plants very prolific, with dense, rock hard buds and tops heavy enough to need staking.
Best Indica at the 2015 Amsterdam Elite Cup
Headstash won first place in the indica category at the 2015 Elite Cup in Amsterdam. Seed sellers carrying the strain still cite the jury's reaction, which said the panel was blown away by the cross.
It was not Karma's only trophy of that era. The company's own award list credits its OG Kush S1 with first place for indica at the 2014 BCN Breeders Cup in Barcelona. Karma's OG took first place for indica at the 2014 IC420 Breeders and Growers Cups in Amsterdam.
Headstash also has a Biker Kush sibling in the same catalog. Headbanger pairs Biker Kush with a Sour Diesel cut and leans sativa, a useful contrast to the indica-leaning Headstash.
What growers can expect
SeedFinder lists Headstash at 9–10 weeks of flowering, or roughly 67 days. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Cannapot's listing calls it a very easy strain for indoor rooms, with results well above average.
That shorter bloom sets it apart from Biker Kush, which Karma rates at 10–11 weeks. Headstash keeps the dense OG structure while finishing a week or so earlier.
Weedmaps identifies Karma Genetics as a Dutch breeder and lists Headstash as an indica-dominant hybrid. It names caryophyllene, myrcene and humulene as the leading terpenes. Users there describe the effects as relaxing and euphoric.
Hytek's Detroit Headstash
Hytek is a Detroit cultivator with an indoor grow facility in West Detroit. The company's founder bought the property in 2016, and the building went through a five-year rehabilitation that revived an entire street block. Hytek now employs more than 30 people there.
Its flagship retail store, The Refinery Detroit, sits right next door to the grow. Hytek says every flower is hand trimmed and every bag holds hand-selected buds.
Hytek's product page lists Headstash as a hybrid and credits Karma Genetics as the breeder. It sells the flower as Hytek Headstash, with a lineage of Girl Scout Cookies, Cherry Pie, Karmarado OG and Biker Kush. The company describes a happy, focused high.
Headstash sits alongside the rest of the Hytek menu. That lineup includes Permanent Marker, Los Muertos, Versace and Gelato 33, plus rosin, pre-rolls and a budget line called Lowtek.
