Ice Cream Man is a hybrid from Compound Genetics, the breeding house run by Chris Lynch. It crosses Jet Fuel Gelato with Legend Orange Apricot F2, and HENDRX dates the release to Compound's 2020 season.
Its standout moment came in 2024. Grower Moca Humboldt took Gold at Hall of Flowers with a batch of Ice Cream Man No. 5, a phenotype known for heavy terpinolene.
Jet Fuel Gelato meets Legend Orange Apricot
Jet Fuel Gelato is a Compound creation. The breeder builds it from Gelato 45, High Octane and Jet Fuel G6, and it also sits behind Grape Gasoline, the parent of Gastro Pop. In Ice Cream Man it supplies the creamy gas base.
Legend Orange Apricot F2 is the other half. The F2 tag marks a second filial generation of that Compound line, and the apricot parent brings the fruit that offsets the Gelato gas.
On the palate, New Jersey grower Breakwater describes apricot, lemon-lime and classic kush fuel, with a light smoke and smooth exhale.
Terpinolene, THC and the No. 5 cut
Terpinolene leads the chemistry. Leafly lists Ice Cream Man at 20% THC and 1% CBG, with terpinolene, myrcene and limonene as its top terpenes. Leafly also files it as an indica-dominant hybrid.
California brand HENDRX carries a selection called Ice Cream Man No. 5. SC Labs testing on that cut shows terpinolene between 1.03% and 1.5%, and HENDRX lists THC at 23–28%. The company calls No. 5 a sativa-dominant expression that grows much like Jet Fuel Gelato and puts out high yields.
The Hall of Flowers Gold in 2024 went to Moca Humboldt's run of that No. 5 phenotype. One clone seller lists a wider THC range of 22–28% across the cut.
Eight to nine weeks with a moderate stretch
Indoors, Ice Cream Man finishes in roughly 56–63 days, and HENDRX gives 58–65 days for No. 5. Outdoor plants come down in early to mid October. Expect a stretch of about 1.5–1.8x after the flip.
Leafly describes tall plants with a medium yield. The buds pack tight, with a splash of orange pistils under icy white trichomes. Branching is decent, and the plant rewards screen training. It rates as an intermediate grow.
Indoor yields run about 1.2–1.5 ounces per square foot, with 12–16 ounces per plant outdoors. The cut expresses fairly uniformly from plant to plant.
From New Jersey flower to Humboldt hash
Ice Cream Man has spread well beyond its breeder. Breakwater grows it for its New Jersey dispensaries in Roselle Park and Cranbury. The company describes the high as relaxing and mood-lifting, with a calm euphoria.
Hashmaker Nasha sells Ice Cream Man as an unpressed hash made from Bandwagon Gardens material, offered in a 12-gram size. That farm grows organic, sun-grown cannabis outdoors where Humboldt meets Trinity County.
The spread from indoor New Jersey rooms to Humboldt hillsides shows how the Compound cross travels. The same Jet Fuel Gelato and Legend Orange Apricot pairing now turns up as award-winning flower, New Jersey dispensary stock and Humboldt hash.
