Compound Genetics is a California seed company founded in 2017 by breeder Christopher Lynch, who goes by Chief Executive Wizard. Its catalog runs through Jet Fuel Gelato, Apples and Bananas, Pavé, Grape Gasoline, Jokerz and Mellowz. In June 2026, Compound debuted a fresh class of Mellowz crosses at Mary Jane Berlin, then put the Mellowz Vol. 1 drop online with its verified vendors on June 20, 2026.

Tiger Trees, Portland and the move to San Francisco
Lynch was born in San Jose and raised in Portland. He started growing in 2006 after a two-year stint in Amsterdam, he told Weedmaps in November 2021. Leaf Magazines dated his first cross to 2007, a Fort Collins Cough paired with a Chemdog DD male.
His first genetics brand, Tiger Trees, started in Portland with a friend. Its main project was a seed collection built on a Chemdog D x Sour Diesel IBL male, and it lasted about two years. Lynch wanted a name with wider reach, one built to sit in any store, so Tiger Trees gave way to Compound.
Compound's seed store dates the company to 2017. In 2019, Lynch moved to San Francisco and worked with Node Labs, which offered to help run his breeding projects. Leaf reported that Compound later brought in business-focused team members to keep Lynch on genetics. Weedmaps counted fewer than five employees in 2021.
Capulator's cut and Legend Orange Apricot
The first line to put Compound on the map started at a festival booth. Jungle Boys invited Lynch to sell seeds with them at the Chalice Festival, and there he ran into Capulator. The breeder handed him an unreleased Legend OG x Orange Apricot cross.
Lynch found keepers and asked to breed with them. Capulator said yes, a rare move for him, per Weedmaps. Lynch used the male to build a seed collection, and Legend Orange Apricot became the base of a full hybrid line.
Jet Fuel Gelato and its offspring
Jet Fuel Gelato came next. Lynch held the Gelato cut before the strain caught on and saw a window, calling himself "kind of first-to-market with hot Gelato seeds." A March 2022 post on Compound's site lists the build as Jet Fuel G6, High Octane and Gelato 45.
The line kept paying out. Weedmaps traced The Menthol to the same run of crosses. Compound's post names High Society, Jokerz, Horchata, First Class Funk, Life Hack, Marshmallow OG, Gummiez, Grape Gasoline and Krypto Chronic as Jet Fuel Gelato offspring.
Berner, Cookies and Pavé
Lynch met Berner at MJBizCon in 2019 and handed him jars of an unnamed cut. It became Apples and Bananas, with Berner running marketing and branding through Cookies. Compound followed with a seed collection crossing Apples and Bananas with Cookies' flagship strains, released at the Emerald Cup.
More Cookies work followed, including Big Face and Pavé, a collaboration with Migos frontman Quavo. In March 2022, Leaf Magazines described customers lining up outside Cookies stores for Lynch's releases. The Pavé Collection went live with verified vendors on December 12, 2025.
Grape Gasoline, Jokerz and the seed catalog
The seed store groups releases into numbered collections:
- Grape Gasoline Vol. 2: Any Day, Crystal Chalice, El Chivo, Fruit Riot, Giggin' Grapes, Mellowz, Pink Certz and Purple Preserves, from $75.
- Eye Candy: Bullz Eye, Chem 51, Chrome Dome, Got Caught, Guwop Green, New Money, Old Money and Rah Tah Tah, from $85.
- Jokerz Vol. 1: Glue 31, Goofiez², Strawberry Skrilla, NYC Vapor, Inside Joke, Candy Bezels and Candy Packz, from $80.
- Jokerz Vol. 2: UK Riot, Wildcard and Trillianz, from $80.
- The Menthol Vol. 2: A.B. Parfait, Jet Puft, OC Oranges, Polar Pop, The Scrooge, Puffinz and Rose Gold Rackz, from $70.
Eye Candy Vol. 2, La Bomba, Pavé and a Your Highness x Compound collection fill out the shelf. Method Seven x Compound adds grow-room glasses with an FX2 lens built for LED light.
The direct store sat under construction in September 2026, so packs move through verified vendors. The domestic list names North Atlantic Seed, Deeply Rooted Seed Bank, Seed Supreme, Seedsman and Seeds Clones. Overseas, Paradise Seeds, Garden Seed Trading and Germany's Wolke Growshop carry the packs.
Perzimmon #2 at the 2023 Emerald Cup
Compound's genetics took the 2023 Emerald Cup award for Innovative Product: Consumable. The winner was Perzimmon #2, a Rainbow Cheddar x Gastro Pop cultivar sold as live-dried flower. Compound and Node Labs shared the credit with The Original Resinator and the processor behind the live-dried method, per a June 15, 2023 release.
The process trims freshly harvested buds with liquid CO2 and freeze-dries them in about 24 hours.
Mellowz, Berlin and the 2026 map
Mellowz is a Spritzer x Grape Gasoline cross from Compound's collaboration with Colorado's Cannarado, first released before the pandemic. It rode in volume two of the Grape Gasoline crosses at Spannabis 2025 in Barcelona, Greenstate reported in July 2026. Mellowz #8 has since dropped in markets worldwide.
The June 2026 Berlin crosses were Glue Lotus (Mellowz x GG4), Lemon Chain (Lemon Gello x Mellowz) and Mailbox Money (Glitterbomb x Mellowz). "People definitely know Mellowz," Compound marketing coordinator Ruby Wagner told Greenstate.
In Germany, Mellowz is available through the country's medical cannabis program via Compound's partnership with Four 20 Pharma. In Canada, Segra International of Richmond, BC calls itself the only licensed distributor of Compound Genetics plants, selling tested breeder cuts as tissue culture.
