Kali
Kali — listed by its breeder as The Kali — is a pure Afghan and Pakistani landrace indica from Big Buddha Seeds, released clone-only with Hindu Kush material noted in its background. Citrus and fuel notes lead into a long, physical, euphoric high. Its real significance is its place alongside Big Buddha Cheese in the same breeding lineage.
Where It Comes From
Kali's story runs through the strain that made Big Buddha Seeds' name. The breeder acquired a Cheese cutting in early 2002 and crossed it with a true landrace Afghani male sourced through a contact who had spent time in the region. The first cross was made late in 2002, and roughly two years of selective backcrossing to the original Cheese stabilized the line into Big Buddha Cheese.
Kali is the parallel search for the female counterpart to that same landrace stock — drawn from the Afghan and Pakistani genetics that supplied the male used in the Cheese backcross, though it is not itself documented as a parent of Cheese. It stands as its own line: a landrace-preservation release built from the same regional genetics rather than a direct cross between two separately named parents.
Big Buddha Seeds' other headline release, Big Buddha Cheese, went on to win Best Breeder/Seed Bank at the 19th High Times Cannabis Cup in 2006, in the indica seed category. Kali sits in the same catalog as a quieter release built for growers who want the older landrace character on its own terms.
The Cross
Big Buddha Seeds breeds and releases Kali as a clone-only cultivar from pure Afghan and Pakistani landrace stock, classified as an indica with Hindu Kush material in its background. The plant grows stout and fat with a slender indica leaf pattern and strong arm branching built to support dense, heavy buds. Flowering runs eight to ten weeks indoors, with outdoor harvest landing at the end of October.
The High Rise Take
Kali is Big Buddha Seeds' Afghan and Pakistani landrace indica: citrus and fuel character, stout heavy-branching plants, and a long, physical, euphoric finish, released clone-only. It's a strain for growers chasing old-school landrace lineage rather than the latest hybrid trend — and a natural next stop for anyone drawn into the Big Buddha Cheese story.
