Blue Sage THC is a woman-owned cannabis topical company in Ventura, California, founded by Tawnia Sodergren with business partner Torane Phelps. It makes one small-batch, full-spectrum cream in three scents, sold through licensed dispensaries across the state, and operates as West Beach Collective LLC.
Founders
Sodergren is an artist, yoga teacher and herbal-product maker who baked for dispensaries and ran her own skincare line during California's Proposition 215 era. After a back injury in 2014 she began adding full-spectrum cannabis oil to a cream she already made. She met Phelps in 2016 and the two built Blue Sage into a licensed company. Sodergren is founder and CEO; Phelps, whose background runs through music event and tour production, graphics, design and marketing, with a communications degree from Menlo College, is cofounder and CFO. The company runs employee profit-sharing and pledges a share of yearly profits.
The formula
Whole cannabis plants from pesticide-free regenerative California farms are infused without solvents into a base of shea butter, cocoa butter, hempseed oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil and vitamin E, with the jojoba itself infused with comfrey, calendula and helichrysum. The formula carries no petroleum, parabens, glycerin, dyes or alcohol, is never animal-tested, and ships with a lab-tested certificate of analysis.
Original, Orange Chai and Citrus Cedar
The base stays the same across the three scents; the essential oils change. Original uses lavender and peppermint. Orange Chai combines chai botanicals with neroli from orange blossom. Citrus Cedar combines citrus, cedar oil and rosemary.
State Fair medals
Blue Sage took silver in the Wellness: Topicals category at the 2024 California State Fair Cannabis Awards. Its Orange Chai cream then won gold in the same category at the 2026 awards.

Blue Sage publishes a retailer list spanning Southern, Central and Northern California, including Sespe Creek Collective in Ojai, The Artist Tree in Los Angeles and Fresno, Green Qween in downtown Los Angeles and West Hollywood, Megan's Organic Market in San Luis Obispo and The Green Cross in San Francisco, with roughly forty more stores. It does not operate a dispensary of its own.
