How it grows
Coastal Sun distinguishes two methods on package labels. “Sungrown” refers to full-term outdoor cultivation in native soil under the open sky. “Greenhouse” refers to controlled bioponic cultivation. The company describes cover crops, hedgerows, insectaries, grazing animals, companion planting and living-soil practices as parts of its regenerative system.
Certifications
Coastal Sun markets USDA Organic, California OCal and EnvirOganic certifications in connection with its cultivation program. OCal is California’s certification program for cannabis products produced under standards comparable to the National Organic Program; it is the proper cannabis-specific term. “Organic” should still be checked against the package and certified-operation list for the responsible farm.
Products
The current catalog includes greenhouse and sungrown flower in multiple sizes, single and multipack pre-rolls, and diamond-infused flower made with sungrown cannabis and THCA diamonds. The company dates its eighth-ounce flower product to 2016, first in glass jars and later in lighter recyclable containers.
Partner farms and stores
Coastal Sun sells through licensed California retailers and has sourced flower from its central farm and OCal-certified family partners. It is a producer brand, not the owner of every dispensary that lists its products. The current store locator and a retailer’s live inventory are the appropriate sources for availability.
December 2025 mandatory recall
On December 4, 2025, California’s Department of Cannabis Control issued a mandatory recall for multiple Coastal Sun greenhouse flower products after detecting Aspergillus niger. The regulator identified Strong Agronomy Management Inc., doing business as Coastal Star Farm, Coastal Sun Farm, Coastal Moon Farm and Coastal Sun, under distribution license C11-0001444-LIC.
The recall is batch-specific, not proof that every Coastal Sun product was contaminated. Consumers should compare their package UID and batch information with the official notice and follow the regulator’s return or disposal instructions when numbers match.
