Ice Cream Cake is Seed Junky Genetics' cross of Wedding Cake and Gelato #33, and it is one of the cuts that defined what a modern dessert cultivar is supposed to be. The cross is Wedding Cake x Gelato #33, though menus often list it in reverse order. Wedding Cake comes from Triangle Kush and Animal Mints, and that is where the dense structure and the heavy resin originate.
Gelato #33 — also known as Larry Bird — descends from Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, and it is the side responsible for the cream, the color and the gas. Both parents sit deep in the Cookies family, which is exactly why Ice Cream Cake reads dessert first and fuel second. It is an indica-leaning hybrid and it behaves like one late in the day.
What It Left Behind
Ice Cream Cake has a real trophy on its resume: a Josh D.-grown cut took the mixed-light win at the 2019 Emerald Cup. That credit belongs to the growers who dialed it in, but the genetics gave them the raw material.
