The Menthol is a Compound Genetics hybrid built from Gelato 45, White Diesel, High Octane and Jet Fuel G6. Compound calls it a unique blend of those four lines, and it became the foundation of the breeder’s long-running Menthol collection.
Its biggest impact is as a parent. Seedfinder tracks 42 direct descendants of The Menthol, from Compound’s own releases to crosses by other breeders.
Four lines stacked into one cross
Seedfinder and Toker’s Guide lay out the structure as Gelato 45 × (White Diesel × (High Octane × Jet Fuel G6)). Gelato 45 sits on one side, while the other side stacks three generations of diesel and fuel genetics.
High Octane and Jet Fuel G6 sit at the deepest layer of the cross. White Diesel joins them one step up, and Gelato 45 meets the whole stack at the top.
The finished flower lives up to the name. Compound describes it as tasting like a minty tiger balm sundae.
Frosty buds and a nine-week flower
Compound describes The Menthol’s buds as chunky, glistening and white, and full of power. Toker’s Guide adds dense, medium-to-large buds in forest green with deep purple hues under a heavy coat of silvery trichomes.
Flowering runs around eight to nine weeks. SoLoud Genetics, which offers a feminized version based on Compound’s cross, lists 8–9 weeks and high yields of large, frost-covered buds.
Toker’s Guide puts THC at 17–25% and rates the plant as an intermediate-to-advanced grow with moderate-to-high yields. Compound itself never released The Menthol as feminized seed, according to Seedfinder.
The effects are balanced. Reviews describe a clear, euphoric start that settles into a relaxed, tingly body feel without heavy sedation.
A Compound Genetics foundation strain
Compound Genetics was founded in 2017 by two industry veterans. European distributor Oaseeds lists The Menthol among the company’s award-winning strains, next to Jet Fuel Gelato, Apples & Bananas and White Runtz.
The Menthol gave its name to a whole collection. Compound’s Volume 3 of the Menthol line brings high yield and powdery mildew resistance to candy, gas and OG flavors. The breeder pitches it as easy to cultivate and built for greenhouse and field-scale growers.
Standouts from that collection include Khalifa Mints, Pink Certz, Eye Candy and Vapor Fuel, all tracing back to The Menthol.
Forty-two descendants and counting
Compound has crossed The Menthol into a string of in-house releases. A.B. Parfait pairs it with Apples & Bananas, Animorph Mints with Animal Mints, and Baby Yoda with Khalifa Kush.
Blue Agave crosses Orange Acai with The Menthol, and El Valle Haze pairs it with a Skunk × Haze line. The range shows how far Compound has pushed one parent, from candy crosses to old-school haze.
Other breeders picked it up too. Wyeast Farms built Cold Snap from Biscotti × The Menthol and Corpse Paint from Headbanger × The Menthol. It also made Blast Chiller with DayWrecker and Cold Fusion with Five Stars.
GLK Genetics took it a step further with Diddy Party, which crosses a Red Bullz × The Menthol plant with Rainbow Belts 3.0. That kind of second-generation use is how a parent becomes a foundation strain.
