Curio Wellness is a family-owned cannabis company based in Towson, Maryland. Michael Bronfein and his daughter Wendy Bronfein founded the business in 2014, and Wendy's siblings Rebecca and David later joined. Curio cultivates, manufactures and packages cannabis products, operates the Far & Dotter dispensary business and works with licensed partner brands in multiple state markets.

Origins and ownership

Wendy Bronfein brought the original cannabis-business idea to her father. Michael had previously co-founded institutional pharmacy company NeighborCare in 1980 and participated in other healthcare and investment businesses. Ernst & Young named him Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994. He served as Curio's chief executive and later was identified by the company as former CEO and cofounder. Michael died on January 21, 2026, at age 70, according to a January 22 report from Jmore.

Curio's current leadership page identifies Brad Friedlander as acting chief executive officer. Friedlander joined the company in 2017. Wendy serves as cofounder and chief brand officer after earlier media roles that included NBC Universal and BBC Worldwide Americas. She holds an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Production

Curio's current catalog covers flower, pre-rolls, vaporizers, chews, tablets, elixirs, topicals, tinctures and chocolates. The company groups premium flower under Curio Exclusive and describes the broader portfolio as the Best Self Collection. Curio uses “Made for Well Beings” as a line across its consumer brand. Product selection, potency and availability differ by state and retailer.

Curio's official materials identify current brand activity in Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey and New York. Each jurisdiction has its own licensing and product rules, so formats and partner labels do not necessarily appear in every market.

The company says its cultivation and manufacturing facilities follow Food and Drug Administration and current good manufacturing practice guidelines. Following guidelines is not the same as receiving FDA approval or certification. Curio also lists licensed collaborations with brands including Dixie, Flower by Edie Parker, Happy Eddie, Kaviar, M-Fused, Ozone and Smokiez. The responsible manufacturer and product roster depend on the market.

Where it operates

Far & Dotter is Curio's owner-operated dispensary brand, formerly known as Curio Dispensary. Stores sell Curio items and other licensed products, and the company has used the Far & Dotter name in a franchise model. In October 2025, Curio announced a definitive agreement to acquire four Greenlight dispensaries in Missouri. Cannabis Industry Journal reported in March 2026 that the acquisition broadened Curio's Missouri retail footprint.

Recent activity

Curio published a response to federal cannabis-rescheduling developments in December 2025 and announced Matt O'Neal's promotion in January 2026. These are company announcements rather than independent evaluations. Curio's official materials also list professional recognition for Wendy Bronfein, including The Daily Record's Empowering Women Award and mg Magazine recognition in 2024, Baltimore Sun Women to Watch in 2023 and a Cannabis Leadership Award in 2022.
